ATTN. SXSW! DON'T MISS THE SUPERGOODMUSIC X G-PEN X ALLHIPHOP.COM BREEDING GROUND SHOWCASE

SGM SXSW Showcase

What happens when you've got an amazing venue, a great sound and production team, and two weeks until your SXSW show date and absolutely no line up? You call SUPERGOODMUSIC and they come to the rescue like Ghostbusters.

With a couple years of SXSW shows under our belt, and some great family in the G Pen team and Allhiphop.com crew, we've recruited some serious heavyweights as well as emerging artists to perform at the GPEN & SUPERGOODMUSIC Present the Allhiphop.com Breeding Ground Showcase.

Local K. Paul paves the way on the main stage for No LImit Forever, Talib Kweli, Problem and Raekwon to get rowdy and the patio is going to be pretty amped too with the likes of Kosha Dillz, Sahtyre, Watch The Duck and G-Eazy!

If you're looking for a healthy dosage of hip-hop - this is the place to be Thursday night. RSVP to the eventbrite page here.

DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS!!!!

Tic Tic Boom! Release Before The Sun Rises

Tic Tic Boom! released a brand new EP today - Before The Sun Rises - and its admittedly pretty damn good.  The release comes amidst a hectic three months that already included multiple Official SXSW performances, 5 sets at Coachella and a handful of other shows and also brings a residency all the month of May at Lot 1 Cafe.

Starting on Wednesday May 2nd you can expect to hear a handful of Tic Tic BooM! originals each week of May at Lot 1 Cafe.  I strongly encourage you not to miss the opportunity because Boom's latest record shows a lot of growth.  Not only have they begun incorporating more electronics and self-made vocal samples,  but the hooks are pretty catchy ("Constellation Boy" is a rocker).  Before The Sun Rises is a welcome departure from lots of the melancholy LA indie rock I'm used to these days and also a fresh take on synth pop.   Judging by their recent climb up Hype Machine's popular charts with "For Feeling" (reached #9 on the popular twitter chart) - it seems the blogosphere agrees.

You can sample the new sounds on their website and you can watch them jam some of their latest tunes live in Jam In The Van below.

For a taste of their older material - check out this relatively new video for "The Open" which was on their 2011 release Reasons and Rhymes.

Porter Robinson - Language/Sunday Coachella Set

My first instrument I ever owned were turntables, and it wasn't until I played a drum machine that I was able to learn how to play kit - so there is no denying that there is SUPERGOOD love for all things electronic and electronic music culture.

Porter Robinson is killing the game right now.  He delivered a set of epic proportions and monstrous energy at our BandPage HQ party at SXSW - and he is slated to probably do something similar for the next two weekends in Indio, CA for Coachella.  He is playing 4:20-5:15 on Sunday.  To tease the audience on what some of the drops might sound like - he dropped this poppy ass banger big one - "Language" - on his soundcloud yesterday.

Robert DeLong at Dim Mak Studios Tonight!

If you're rocking Hollywood tonight - consider Dim Mak Studios. Young entertainer Robert DeLong has his multifaceted set in the house for some electro-rock CrayBans business. Don't know who he is? Find out -

He definitely rocked Dim Mak's party at SUPERGOODMUSIC's BandPage HQ at SXSW. My guess is he will do the same again tonight off of Hollywood Blvd.

That Triple R Threat - Robert Raimon Roy

Had the pleasure of witnessing a Robert Raimon Roy set at BandPage HQ late night on St. Patrick's Day and the dude killed it. Having graduated from syncopated rap styles and swag rap to a more sophisticated look, a little bit of singing and flexible rap vocals - he delivered one of the most impressive performances I caught down in Austin.

I am excited to see what he puts out next - because last I heard from him was "Little Egypt Wavy" - a synthy, drum heavy hip-hop and soul blend that has a wicked video.

Catch him performing a track at BandPage HQ in Austin too.

Final Night of SXSW/Check Out Grape Vinyl

SXSW 2012 was amazing and exhausting. #BandPageHQ hosted by SUPERGOODMUSIC (@supergoodmusic), Heard Entertainment (heardent) and of course Bandpage (@bandpage) really rocked out - especially on its last night with The Service Company, Warp Records and Brainfeeder.

At the end of it all, SUPERGOODMUSIC founder Brandon Dorsky took a flight back from San Antonio to LA via Southwest. In a serendipitous turn of events, Kunal Anand - the creator of Grape Vinyl, one of the more awesome video blogs out there these days, sat down in the middle seat next to him and a friendship was born.

If you didn't know about Grape Vinyl - its delivering new music video nuggets on a regular basis. This is a blog that is doing it right and looks good too. It even led me to stuff I should have already discovered myself - like this trippy cartoony Neon Indian "Fallout" video released in early February.

How I missed it - I don't know. But Grape Vinyl didn't - and that's the point. I respect this blog and this blogger. Check out the video blog here and follow Kunal.

SXSW = fun.

Been down in Austin for the past few days and the streets are filled with people of all shapes, colors, creeds and occupations. Music and technology is the thread that ties us all together - and musicians come here to weave themselves into that fabric.

One band having a recent catastrophic shake up to their impact on the culture-sphere is fun. Their track "We Are Young" has catapulted up Billboard charts and quickly become a cult favorite....so much so that everyone from Bing to Stubbs wants them to play their events in Austin. They were the subject of New York Times cover Arts section cover article, the topic of much discussion at SXSW and quickly everyone's favorite new band.

Apparently the act played Bing last night. If you missed the opportunity to feel young again, they play the Warehouse at 1100 5th Street on Wednesday, Friday at Stubbs and probably a few other places. Check out their video for "We Are Young" feat. Janelle Monae below and also "Some Nights."

Miike Snow - "Paddling Out" Video

Something about Miike Snow's music just grips me every time. I'm oozing with anticipation for their record, excited to catch them at Coachella and just hoping I'll be able to see them wherever they're playing in Austin during SXSW.

"Paddling Out" is hopefully a great window into what their new record will sound like - cause it just means they'll be continuing their trend of kick-ass left of center melodically sound quasi-dance floor bangers that are ripe for remixing and perfect to drive to. While this music video is positively weird and out of this world - the song isn't. Great structure with some sexy vocal cries in the hook. Enjoy...

Penguin Prison Hit LA for 2 Days/Don't F With My Money

We had Penguin Prison perform at our SUPERGOODMUSIC Showcase series in Austin, TX during SXSW 2011 - which included a performance of "Golden Train" at Rusty Spurs (see video below). The act has steadily been infiltrating other blogger's respective radars and recently picked up Windish to their booking - so you should certainly expect to see their name popping up on more festivals and more national tours in 2012.

They also just dropped this video for "Don't F With My Money" that has Occupy Wall Street themes in it and is definitely stirring up a little controversy.

To close out their 2011, they are making a trip back to L.A. to play Dim Mak Tuesdays tonight at Dim Mak Studios and then tomorrow they head west to The Central SAPC to perform Wednesday night. Their high energy, infectious-indie-electro jams translate really well to concert and we strongly recommend you check them out if you can.

I love Machine Gun Kelly's enthusiasm and passion for his work. Listen to him reflect on his SXSW experience. Its nice to hear an artist's thoughts on their industry coming out party....

The First of Many Videos from Austin and SXSW - Multi Platinum Artist Miguel and More

Here is a sample of things to come. On St. Patrick's Day we had some hip-hop, some funk and some electro at Lipstick 24 on 7th St, including platinum recording artist Miguel doing one of his hits, "Quickie," and rising electro hip-hopper Keith Masters doing his Futurecop! collabo "1988 Girls."

Dear SXSW and Coachella - 12th Planet is coming

Have you heard this bass? Turn your computer speakers up and learn how John Dadzie AKA 12th Planet throws down at festivals in 2011. This is 12th at Snowball Music Festival past Friday.

Why didn't I go to Colorado for Snowball Music Festival?

SAINT MOTEL IS PLAYING THE SUPERGOODMUSIC SHOWCASE IN AUSTIN - MARCH 16th

I love, love, love Saint Motel. Not only are the quartet some of the coolest, nicest, most fun guys I've ever met - but their music is infectiously good. Everything off their first EP is delicious - including the original of "Dear Dictator."

In this video that song gets the treatment from Sam Sparro and Saint Motel's vocalist/guitarist AJ took on the role of director of the music video. I was actually on set for some of the shoot at the club formerly known as Cinespace and even have a very brief cameo (look for a green hat). Although they won't be performing the remix, you can almost count on the original or at least something off of the For Play EP down at SXSW.

Saint Motel are performing at a few different parties - but you'd be foolish to miss them at ours. They'll be in a headlining position and I have no doubts that they will rock the hell out of our stage at Lipstick 24 at 606 East 7th Street in Austin, TX on Wednesday March 16th.

Look for our eventbrite RSVP page soon - but for now, you can RSVP here.

Twenty-Foster Hours To Go

That's right, a little more than 24 hours to go until Foster The People take stage, please brains and make fans at The Viper Room on Wednesday February 24, 2010. It's never too early to start getting hyped, especially when so many other people are doing the same and buzzing about the band as evidenced by their popularity on hypem.com.

Foster The People's "Pumped Up Kicks" is currently sitting in the Top 10 most popular on hypem.com, propelled by its recent appearance in NYLON TV's coverage of Anna Sui during fashion week. All Mark Foster and his people needed was a vehicle for their music to be absorbed, and like lightning the 20 something artist from the suburbs of Cleveland and his band of People are making a serious buzz. You can check out the cool video from Nylon TV here or see it on YouTube here.

Not only are they turning eyes on NYLON TV and ears on hypem.com, but they expect to turn some heads at their show at The Viper Room. It just so happens to be Mark Foster's birthday celebration (the guy was actually born on leap year day) so you can only imagine what might transpire. If it is anything like their performance at the Stand Up benefit, you can expect some impressive vocals from Mark and some inspiring and creative improvisation from the entire band.

To top that off - the band just announced that they will be performing 2 shows in Austin, TX during SXSW - once on March 17th at a Music & Tech Mashup Event at Rusty Spurs along with other rising acts from Los Angeles like Saint Motel and Odd Modern, and on March 19th at the Rooftop Riot! at The Blind Pig on 6th Street where they will be sharing the stage with Andrew W.K. himself as well as other buzz bands including Glint and Little Girls.

Help the band continue building their buzz by giving them a heart on hypem here.
