Snack, Snack, Snack, Crunch!

This music video makes you long for more child-fueled entertainment like the 4th season of the Wire, and has you itching to get your snack on at the same time.  It even has me wanting some Taki's and some red stained fingers.   Cheers to whomever within the Y.N RichKids crew inspired this idea ... now where are my Hot Cheetos and Taki's though?

Kitty Pryde - One Hit Wonder or Clever New Sensation?

Kitty Pryde already got the New York Times treatment this past weekend and has her swag flag flying high with Princess bottom lip tattoos, Yeastie Girls t-shirts and extras in her video rocking Bobba Fett helmets.  Can't say her flow is perfected - but "Okay Cupid" is gentle, cute and kind of clever.  Plus, the wave like beat is pretty solid.  Check it...

That Triple R Threat - Robert Raimon Roy

Had the pleasure of witnessing a Robert Raimon Roy set at BandPage HQ late night on St. Patrick's Day and the dude killed it. Having graduated from syncopated rap styles and swag rap to a more sophisticated look, a little bit of singing and flexible rap vocals - he delivered one of the most impressive performances I caught down in Austin.

I am excited to see what he puts out next - because last I heard from him was "Little Egypt Wavy" - a synthy, drum heavy hip-hop and soul blend that has a wicked video.

Catch him performing a track at BandPage HQ in Austin too.

Das Racist Funny Raps at Echoplex This Tuesday

Animated funny rappers Das Racist return to Los Angeles to grace Echoplex's stage for what hopes to be another night of swagged out hip-hop and hilarity at Check Yo Ponytail 2. If their pseud0-hit "Michael Jackson" and its music video (above) are any sort of harbinger - the trio will likely succeed in delivering just that.

We're making it a bit easier for you to indulge in their antics by giving away a couple pairs of tickets to those of you that let it be known exactly why you should be there. Broadcast your sentiments to the world in a comment on our facebook page, via twitter (make sure to tag @supergoodmusic & @theechoLA) or privately by emailing contest@supergoodmusic.com. We'll pick and notify the winners sometime before noon the day of the show.

Pu$$y - Iggy Azalea

Dirty subject matter. Check.

Kid with mad swagger. Check.

Gratuitous shots of kittens. Check.

This video is a winner and I'm actually impressed with Iggy Azalea. Her raps come off casual, smooth and effortless. As long as she is better than Kreayshawn live - I'm down.

Das Roxy

Had the privilege of attending a near capacity Das Racist and Danny Brown show on Thursday night at the esteemed Roxy. While it may not have been the most epic show I've ever seen there - the eclectic hip-hop group brought their unique energy and lyrics to the stage, all draped with ethnically diverse swag.

With swirling Bart Simpson visuals and lots of movement on stage, you may have thought you or the act was on drugs. While I can't confirm or deny the latter - the visual frenzy and frenetic energy excited the crowd - which was packed in to absorb the stylings of Heems, Kool A.D. and Dap. My favorite was, of course, "You Oughta Know" with the Billy Joel sample. Clearly its not on Relax, their official commercial release which dropped on September 13, 2011, but a handful of the material was including "Power" - the song that featured touring mates Danny Brown and Despot.

Das Racist still is growing as a performance group - but their chemistry is apparent and they're clearly having fun. If you missed them this week - don't sleep on them next time as I'm sure it will be another amazing line-up.

You can buy Relax on CD or vinyl here.

For other upcoming stacked hip-hop shows - consider Method Man, Curren$y and Big Krit tonight at The Music Box and DJ Abilities, Binary Star (Reunion Show!) and Kosha Dillz with support from Azad Right, E-Train and Jayk Gallagher at The Viper Room on Tuesday. Tickets for that can be found here.

Keith Masters - "Photo Op"

Today the world received their latest dosage of Electro Majic when Keith Masters released "Photo Op."

The hip-hop electro hipster crossover has a melodic instrumental beginning before Masters drops his lyrically crafty first verse. Opening with some thematic word play on the song title, the lyrics sync perfectly with the ambient track, including the well positioned "Concert Blast" shout out.

Shortly after the SUPERGOOD shout out (we were in the studio when he was recording vocals), Keith picks up his flow double time and exhibits why he should be on any electronic fusion fan's radar. Embracing the structure and creative depth of electronically driven music, Keith and Brandon Dermer (producer) built a pseudo hip-hop song that evolves both musically and lyrically from ambient and slow to fast and rhythmically driven.

Masters maintains the imagery of photo opportunities with creative visual references to the stereotypical pursuit of a flash worthy lifestyle before entering into the easy to rap/sing "Photo Op" chorus. Following the first batch of "op"s, Keith gets deep and introspective about the dreams of chasing a career as a performer, even calling out those that make the leap of faith to pursue careers in L.A in pursuit of those photo ops.

Dropping references to not only SUPERGOOD, but Hollywood swag and Melrose Ave., and with production from Los Angeles' own Dermer, this just might be my next cruising LA cut.

"Photo Op" was written by Keith Masters, features Babe Lincoln and was produced by Brandon Dermer (Los Angeles).
