The next great (currently below the radar) LA quartet that I think is going to pop off in a SUPERGOOD way is Mind The Gap. As evidenced by their new single "Hero" - they capture the fusion of electronic dance in a way that feels like an indie ballad is being mashed up with a slamming house track by your favorite DJ. Hero even feels like A-Trak's remix of Yeah Yeah Yeah's "Heads Will Roll"...except its an original composition. And a catchy one at that. With recently landed synchs in "You're Next" and a forthcoming documentary tentatively titled "Generation Iron" - plus spots on Lifetime and other reality programming - it appears they have a penchant for songwriting and it's possible you may have even already been exposed to MTG. If you haven't - August 30th at The Roxy is your chance. With a set scheduled for 9 p.m. in a supporting slot for Work Drugs - I can promise they'll unleash at least a half hour of power that will probably leave your feet sore, your heart racing and have you chanting at least one of their hooks. If you haven't heard or seen this train coming - make sure you Mind The Gap, because they've arrived. Get your tickets for tonight's show here!
Club Nokia and Los Angelenos get a special treat tonight when Moderat - the esteemed collaboration of Modoselektor and Apparat - unleashes that good sort of filth as Thursday turns to Friday. The collab does not tour often - so electronic music aficionados take note. The late addition of Tokimonsta only makes the bill significantly better --- and makes the decision to not go that much more ignorant. Don't miss the queen of electronic beats (TOKiMONSTA), where she is likely to perform a handful of tracks from her Ultra release "Half Shadows." It's rare that such high quality musicianship and production skills packs a bill in Los Angeles and tickets are still available day of --- but they are, and for all ages. Doors are at 9 and Patricio will be first to the decks. Follow this link if you want to ensure you're in the building when the music drops.
Concerts galore hit the streets of Los Angeles tonight - but the best ones are just East of Vine St. at Hollywood Palladium (ALT-J) and Fonda Theatre (Purity Ring and Jon Hopkins). If you can chase down tickets to either one of those performances - you won't regret it. O.C. residents get a visit from Icona Pop at The Observatory. Tonight is not your average twilight series performance down by Santa Monica Pier. The Santa Ana born, Huntington Beach raised Nick Waterhouse brings his bluesy and soulful vocals and guitar right by the beach. Making his recording debut in 2010 with the release of "Some Place" and "That Place" - the storied musical journeyman has been on a wild ride ever since. In May 2012, he released his first full length album, Times All Gone, via Stones Throw imprint Innovative Leisure Records. He continues to maintain a strong working relationship with the Allah-Las and is contributing to production of their sophomore record as well as his own. Catch the Cali crooner tonight at Santa Monica Pier for FREE. Boogaloo Assassins open.
Quasi-local (OC and Long Beach) act Kiev enjoy the third night of their stellar residency this Monday night at Bootleg. Their Radiohead meets My Morning Jacket meets Medeski Martin & Wood sound recalls all things that are good about music, without any of the pop, begging to be discovered, drivel. These guys make music they like - and they appear to have fun doing it too.
Celebrate their latest projects at Bootleg tonight with Miya Folick, The Steelwells, MYPET and DJ Kat Corbett! And, its FREE!
Fierce, beautiful, well-orchestrated all aptly describe Breakfast's "True Love Waits" - but nothing does it justice like the song itself. The deeply emotional ballad belted by the beautiful Andrea Adolph is enhanced by dramatic accordion and perfectly peppered ivory and ebony.
The clap breakdown is charming and cute, as is these seemingly young artists opining about how true love waits. Does it?
Its a summer Thursday - which means FREE shows at the Santa Monica Pier (The English Beat w/ Maxwell Smart) and Levitt Pavilion's (Christian Scott at McArthur Park, New Found Road in Pasadena). The Roots hold a soft place in founder Brandon Dorsky's SUPERGOOD heart. Having seen them upwards of 40 times - they capture a special place a top the list of bands he's seen most. Their acceptance of a spot on Jimmy Fallon's late night program meant less touring than their former 200+ shows a year - but hey, the world now gets the treat of seeing them every night - and that is a net positive.
Earlier this week, they really impressed when Robin Thicke joined the legendary Roots crew and Mr. Fallon for a special rendition of "Blurred Lines" with classroom instruments. Which version do you prefer? The video might not be as sexy as the scandalous original, but check it out and decide for yourself.
Throw on your swan outfits, Bjork is in town and playing the Hollywood Bowl tonight.
If that ain't your jam, perhaps you want to get down with the Alkaline Trio at The House of Blues Sunset or close out Tom Petty's six night run at The Fonda.

West on Sunset you’ll find the soul of crooner Bilal at Roxy Theatre and emerging newcomer Jez Dior, whose "Candles" track you might remember from a few months back, at The Viper Room. Junip, On and On and Barbarossa at Troubadour should deliver some tasty audible pleasures too.

Its the final day of the month - which could mean its time to tame down spending to make rent...or its time for the turn up. If its the latter - we've got a host of musical offerings to suggest.
Topping our list are two shows on the eastside. If you're feeling Brit Week, then Chad Valley is your man. He produces and sings simultaneously, effecting his vocals into some sexy, somewhat ambient strange indie electronic music. His show at The Echo is definitely worthy of your attention. For more sexy vocals, albeit a different variety that is more hip-hop and poetry informed, consider Robert Raimon Roy at Bootleg Theater. The triple R threat is joined by the soul of Jack Davey and the electronics of Jonwayne making for an eclectic, eccentric night of dopeness.
We have tickets to give away for both shows - so hit up contest@supergoodmusic.com or mention us and the artists on twitter to get in on the action!
On the grittier rock side of things consider Great White Buffalo at Hemingway's or The Record Company at The Mint. For the latter, I might advise sticking out for their Cinco De Mayo show at Venice Love Shack because its $10 for all you can drink and all you can jam out to.

The in-between Coachella week keeps the hits coming. If you dropped the ball and didn't catch any of the good music that was about town last night, well you have a chance to make up for it tonight.
If it's hip hop that your ears desire then you have several very appealing options like Kitty Pryde (swoon) at the Bootleg Theater, Action Bronson at the Constellation Room at The Observatory, Public Enemy at The House of Blues Sunset Strip, or Teebs and Verbs at Low End Theory at The Airliner.
If it's rock that you want then you've got options for that as well. Tops on our list would be Dinosaur Jr. w/ King Tuff at The Glass House, Alt J at The Observatory or The Dropkick Murphy's at the Nokia.
If thizz is what you want then look no further then Boys Noize and Claude Vonstroke who are doing a free show at the Sound Nightclub.
There's plenty to be had tonight, so wherever you end up just remember, keep it funky!
Got a post Coachella hang-over? Didn't go, not hungover at all and feeling a bit down? The best cure for both is to go see more music. If we're suggesting shows for tonight, and we are, then we'd say go see The Faint with White Arrows at The Observatory. Or, if you want to get real crazy with your Monday, check out Koshachella with Kosha Dillz, the Hebrew Hammer of Hip Hop (aka Yung Menorah, Lil' Latke, etc. etc.), Y-Luv and some other bands will be rocking The Joint with Kosha tonight.
Full show list is below. Remember, Monday is just another word for Friday.
It's Sunday, a day of rest, or a day you can use to go hear some tunes... If you're doing the latter then let us recommend either Mudhoney at the Echo (because Mudhoney is awesome), or Penguin Prison at Drai's in Hollywood... Neither is a bad decision.
It is admittedly a slow evening. The turn-up has no doubt left Los Angeles County and made its way to the desert. That's sort of a bummer for those of us stuck here, but you know what? It's a big town, there's always stuff to do.
So maybe hit up the Calvin Harris show at The Palladium. He's joined by Trey Songz, The Wanted, and Zedd.
Or, if you're feeling adventurous and you want in on a little bit of that desert vibe, get in the whip and head out to Pappy and Harriet's in J-Tree to catch Nick Waterhouse. That will be a guaranteed good experience. However, if your pockets are thin and you don't want to make a trip out of it, then drop your finger on any number of the free options listed below. Odds are you'll land on something fun, and if it isn't, well, that's probably because you didn't try to make it fun...
