Tonight in L.A. (February 25, 2013)

Post Oscar hangovers give rise to the realization that it is actually a full work week this week.  And while that seems daunting, finding some quality act to see this Monday night in Los Angeles is not.  With some great residencies closing the books on their February run - it might be wise to catch those weekly parties before they change casts.

The Mowgli's enlisted The Diamond Light, Zak Waters, Lisa Donnelly and DJ Jason Kramer to end things at The Satellite on a high note.  A House for Lions did the same by recruiting Max and The Moon, The Peach Kings and The Cerny Brothers.   Dance party starter Mystery Skulls hauled in Ghost Beach, Gangplans and DJ Holloweyed to Bootleg Bar to end his run there.

Elsewhere Hunnypot Radio broadcasts out of The Central SAPC with a tasty set from rising indie electro pop rockers Mind The Gap, Del The Funky Homosapien drops some FREE raps on the Slidebar crowd, Jeff Garlin makes people laugh as he converses with Aziz Ansari at Largo and last but not least, Chief and Warships deliver a dosage of indie to It's A School Night at Bardot.

Amazing how the week flies by in Los Angeles.  To help get you amped for Friday night - check out Viceroy's remix of "This Is How We Do It"

If you want to dance to music like that - head to LURE for Private Label Fridays, where Treasure Fingers throws down along with Oliver and Nick Catchdubs.  For a little filthier bass go a little north of Hollywood Blvd. to Avalon for Jack Beats, Carnage, Whiite and more.

Perhaps you're into bass, but not about those trap beats, in which case the famous Victor Wooten (of Bela Fleck & The Flecktones) at El Rey Theatre might be your sonic treat.  For other amazing musicianship - consider Jon Brion at Largo.

Tonight in L.A. (February 1, 2013)

Kick off your month (and Super Bowl weekend) on the right foot with a variety of musical options in Los Angeles.

Personal favorites - Karl Denson's Tiny Universe are set to funk things up at El Rey Theatre with support from Howlin' Rain while other skilled instrumentalists, The Wood Brothers, provide a more laid back set of sounds at Largo.

For more aggressive rock consider Hell Ride featuring Mike Watt, Peter Distefano, Stephen Perkins and more at The Central SAPC.  For the jams - ALO and The California Honeydrops at Troubadour would definitely be a stellar choice.

Rising star Father John Misty performs at SoHo House while a buzzband of yesteryear, The Happy Hollows, try to fill up The Satellite.  For eclectic, cool and a good crowd - The Natural History Museum hosts electrifying performer Gaslamp Killer and his bobbing headnod and The Echo brings in Geographer.
