New Heat: FIND MY WAY by MIND THE GAP

Hopefully you've been watching your step in the music game in early 2013 - because then you might already be familiar with Mind The Gap and their edgy bouncy electronic pop rock single "Find My Way."  To celebrate their ballsy anthem - they released a performance video yesterday and made the song available in exchange for an e-mail address on their website  www.mindthegapsound.com.  Teenagers to 30 somethings filled with angst about life need this track on their mobile phone, ipod and computer STAT - it speaks directly to the struggles we've all experienced trying to figure this thing called life out and the song beats hard and f'ing pops!

"Find My Way" is the first single off of MTG's forthcoming EP Youth due out sometime later in 2013.  If this track portends what the rest of their EP is like - I'm expecting fierce and energetic dopeness in a diverse package.   And why shouldn't I have that expecation?  MTG may be able to lay claim to the title "most diverse rock band" as they're a truly unique quartet spearheaded by a Jewish vocalist from the suburbs of Cleveland, OH, and backed by Sri Lankan hip-hop producer, a Mexican guitarist/producer and a Korean songwriter.   Not only does their diversity make a statement - their musicianship and on-stage chemistry truly validates the famous Abdul line "opposites attract" and evidences that sometimes the best content comes in the most unlikely and colorful of packages.

You can catch MTG performing at The Hotel Cafe on February 15th, but check their website for updates as there will likely be a few other performances popping up and peep the video below with the filthy remixed outro....

Disco Nap All Day!

Between being a music trend setting pioneer, co-owner of a label and a digital master of ceremonies on decks everywhere, A-Trak somehow managed to record a handful of new bangers to add to his setlists.

The bass he found is stinky like fish and the tracks are hot enough to melt your finest Emmentaler, so the EP is appropriately titled Tuna Melt.  The best track IMO, "Disco Nap," makes my subs purr like they're having a wet dream.

Tuna Melt also features Tommy Trash, GTA, Oliver and Galantis.   Grab it here via i-tunes or stream it from Fool's Gold's Soundcloud.

Good Ass Day

Yesterday started off horribly - a classic series of calamities that make you say to yourself "what next?!?!?"

But - then, everything suddenly began to change tide and by the end of the day - I was singing some Doughboyz Cashout...."Good Ass Day."  Its the latest SUPERHOOD anthem from the crew out of Detroit.

Prob Cause Gonna Knock You Out - "Flex"

Rising Chicago hip-hop artist Prob Cause is back in the music ring for another bout - this time delivering "Flex."  The second single off of his forthcoming "Recipe" project - showcases Prob midwest repping with clever metaphors and, in classic Chicago fashion, a varying flow speed.

Prob Cause breaks it down for his hometown this weekend at North Coast Music Festival as well as a stop in Bloomington on August 30th with another midwestern spitter - Machine Gun Kelly.  L.A. gets the privilege of another Prob Cause visit in early October for Filter's Culture Collide Festival; start training for the event by watching the video and copping Recipe (featuring Rockie Fresh, YP and more) when it is released this coming Labor Day weekend.

"Flex" video was directed by Elijah Alvarado and High Ambition.

Fresh off the presses and straight out the fryer, Weapons of Audio dropped another hot piece of content today – “Life Goes” - the second acoustic video from their Jam In The Van sessions.   The poetic tale of life’s trials and tribulations features the premier of the Peruvian pan flute beatbox and continues the brother’s trend of creating a unique blend of soul, hip-hop and indie rock ethos.  Although it’s a live version,  Weapons of Audio crush another new track from their forthcoming untitled EP.

Murda Bizness

Iggy Azalea's finally put out something to follow up the down-under "Pu$$y" anthem that is worth talking about - "Murda Bizness," which features ad libs, breathing and a verse from her boss man T.I.  The swag heavy ode to killing features a perked up toddlers & tiaras style music video that just dropped this week.  Her EP, Glory, is expected shortly.

DELON'S MEMORIAL POOL PARTY RAGER w/ Delon, Dean Risko, Electric Drip & More!

Its kind of officially the kick off of summer this weekend - charcoal's getting hot, pools are getting filled, booze is flowing freely and skin is more exposed.   Just in case you weren't convinced - there are some festivals (Lightning In A Bottle, Silverlake Jubilee) too.

Assuming you're not fest-ing it up, or even if you are headed to Jubilee, you might want to consider a trip to Pasadena on Sunday at noon for DELON'S MEMORIAL WEEKEND POOL RAGER.  It's the launch of a series of pool parties that the DJ/MC will be hosting and performing at all summer long - from private residences, to swanky hotels.   BUT - unlike the others - this one is the first and comes along with free alcohol (including some tasty tasty XANTE), free food and, of course, free entry.  Space is limited - so you might want to RSVP to musicfuturenow@gmail.com to ensure you and your guests are included.  You can also RSVP via Facebook here.

Not convinced?  On top of being one of the first in LA to witness the Sri Lankan phenom drop his poppy party starter "Body Rock" - you may get a taste of some of his other unreleased material, as well as visits from other upstarts like Dean Risko, Electric Drip and Joy Island!  Check out Delon, Risko and Electric Drip's videos below.  Electric Drip's video is like Beastie Boys "Sabotage" had a baby with aliens and dub step music and that baby was a music video.

I'm heading out because not only are the musicians talented - but who can refuse free booze and food by the pool?  Not me.   Neither can Before The Bigs - the blog hosting the event.  Hope to see you at 880 Rosalind Rd., San Marino, CA 91108!

Kitty Pryde - One Hit Wonder or Clever New Sensation?

Kitty Pryde already got the New York Times treatment this past weekend and has her swag flag flying high with Princess bottom lip tattoos, Yeastie Girls t-shirts and extras in her video rocking Bobba Fett helmets.  Can't say her flow is perfected - but "Okay Cupid" is gentle, cute and kind of clever.  Plus, the wave like beat is pretty solid.  Check it...

The Chef Cooks Up Another Good Track

Chef Raekwon, the infamous 'ice cream' man, typically delivers butter smooth flow. This latest track with Kofi Black - "I Love Your Crazy" - has a sexy piano melody and hook and a consistent spit from the Wu Tang Clan affiliate.

Enjoy. And if you're in the 303 or 702 - you could catch Chef Raekwon, Kofi Black and more - including Freddie Gibbs - at Fox Theatre in Boulder tonight. We're giving tickets away - so email contest@supergoodmusic.com if you want them!

Trippy Justice Video

The "ON'N'ON" video by Justice might scare you if you're on acid - or it might be the coolest thing ever. If you're sober - I suppose you could still have the same reaction. What do you think? Reminds me of Star Wars credits, The Never Ending Story and hallucinations. Plus, its got enough special effects that its not just your average music video.

Massive effects, skeletons, colors, explosions and, justifiably, the members of the duo make it entertaining.

Mashers of The Year - The Hood Internet

The Hood Internet is taking the remix and mash-up world by storm - and this is nothing new if you're from Chicago or have been up on your blogroll. After impressing the industry at SXSW just a few weeks ago - they've embarked on a brief tour alongside Black Moth Super Rainbow's Tobacco that recently took them through Los Angeles, to both Echo and Detroit Bar.

The rest of their tour takes them to the following cities before ending in at Empty Bottle their hometown of Chicago:

Saturday 3/27 - Bottom Of The Hill, San Francisco CA
Sunday 3/28 - WOW Hall, Eugene OR
Monday 3/29 - Holocene, Portland OR #
Tuesday 3/30 - Chop Suey, Seattle WA
Friday 4/2 - Triple Rock Social Club, Minneapolis MN ^
Saturday 4/3 - Empty Bottle, Chicago IL

My new favorite mash-up heroes just seem to get it right every time. From mixing Drake with Miike Snow to Dr. Dre with Class Actress, this duo knows how to take the good things from popular music and the good things from indie culture and bring it together to make something infectiously danceable, repeatable and awesome. I wish these guys would DJ every party I ever had.

You can check out a lot more about the group on their own site -http://www.thehoodinternet.com/ - as well as get free downloads to their zipped mixtapes and other songs.
