The next great (currently below the radar) LA quartet that I think is going to pop off in a SUPERGOOD way is Mind The Gap. As evidenced by their new single "Hero" - they capture the fusion of electronic dance in a way that feels like an indie ballad is being mashed up with a slamming house track by your favorite DJ. Hero even feels like A-Trak's remix of Yeah Yeah Yeah's "Heads Will Roll"...except its an original composition. And a catchy one at that. With recently landed synchs in "You're Next" and a forthcoming documentary tentatively titled "Generation Iron" - plus spots on Lifetime and other reality programming - it appears they have a penchant for songwriting and it's possible you may have even already been exposed to MTG. If you haven't - August 30th at The Roxy is your chance. With a set scheduled for 9 p.m. in a supporting slot for Work Drugs - I can promise they'll unleash at least a half hour of power that will probably leave your feet sore, your heart racing and have you chanting at least one of their hooks. If you haven't heard or seen this train coming - make sure you Mind The Gap, because they've arrived. Get your tickets for tonight's show here!
Post Oscar hangovers give rise to the realization that it is actually a full work week this week. And while that seems daunting, finding some quality act to see this Monday night in Los Angeles is not. With some great residencies closing the books on their February run - it might be wise to catch those weekly parties before they change casts.
The Mowgli's enlisted The Diamond Light, Zak Waters, Lisa Donnelly and DJ Jason Kramer to end things at The Satellite on a high note. A House for Lions did the same by recruiting Max and The Moon, The Peach Kings and The Cerny Brothers. Dance party starter Mystery Skulls hauled in Ghost Beach, Gangplans and DJ Holloweyed to Bootleg Bar to end his run there.
Elsewhere Hunnypot Radio broadcasts out of The Central SAPC with a tasty set from rising indie electro pop rockers Mind The Gap, Del The Funky Homosapien drops some FREE raps on the Slidebar crowd, Jeff Garlin makes people laugh as he converses with Aziz Ansari at Largo and last but not least, Chief and Warships deliver a dosage of indie to It's A School Night at Bardot.

Valentine's Day is over - which means you don't have an excuse to not go to a show tonight. That's right - straight up dissing post Valentine's Day plans. Cancel 'em. Tonight's concert calendar is too heady. Emerging LA talent is all over the place - like the Gonzo Country party at The Mint headlined by throwback act Dustbowl Revival. Frontman and songwriter Zach Lupetin keeps the crowd moving and his rotating stable of talented instrumentalists always make it a party.
Across town, indie electro-pop rock act Mind The Gap celebrate the completion of their EP at The Hotel Cafe. If you feel like dancing in an intimate space - check it out because they will surely play the catchy "Find My Way" and other new material. If you need a larger dance floor - check out MNDR and RAC at Lure. MNDR joined Tokimonsta at Low End Theory on Wednesday and made homies in the crowd melt - and she will probably do the same at the second installment of this season's Private Label Fridays.
To rock in a larger setting - EELS get down at Fonda Theatre and Unknown Mortal Orchestra headlines a sexy indie line up at The Echoplex that includes Foxygen, Gothic Tropic and Wampire.
For the hip-hop fans - Blackalicious does an early show at Yost Theater, Cam-Ron goes a little harder at Key Club and pop rapper Wallpaper. spits at The Roxy along with Con Bro Chill. Other notables include Sam Barsh Trio at Virgil, Soundgarden at The Wiltern and Photek at King King Club. Full list of shows below the videos.

Hopefully you've been watching your step in the music game in early 2013 - because then you might already be familiar with Mind The Gap and their edgy bouncy electronic pop rock single "Find My Way." To celebrate their ballsy anthem - they released a performance video yesterday and made the song available in exchange for an e-mail address on their website www.mindthegapsound.com. Teenagers to 30 somethings filled with angst about life need this track on their mobile phone, ipod and computer STAT - it speaks directly to the struggles we've all experienced trying to figure this thing called life out and the song beats hard and f'ing pops! "Find My Way" is the first single off of MTG's forthcoming EP Youth due out sometime later in 2013. If this track portends what the rest of their EP is like - I'm expecting fierce and energetic dopeness in a diverse package. And why shouldn't I have that expecation? MTG may be able to lay claim to the title "most diverse rock band" as they're a truly unique quartet spearheaded by a Jewish vocalist from the suburbs of Cleveland, OH, and backed by Sri Lankan hip-hop producer, a Mexican guitarist/producer and a Korean songwriter. Not only does their diversity make a statement - their musicianship and on-stage chemistry truly validates the famous Abdul line "opposites attract" and evidences that sometimes the best content comes in the most unlikely and colorful of packages. You can catch MTG performing at The Hotel Cafe on February 15th, but check their website for updates as there will likely be a few other performances popping up and peep the video below with the filthy remixed outro....
Join the SUPERGOOD team and some of our favorite emerging bands as we celebrate the end of 2012 at The Mint tonight. Cherub, Mystery Skulls and Mind The Gap will be joined by no just SUPERGOODMUSIC, but also the Jam In The Van (@jaminthevan), G Pen (@gpenlife), Grassroots California (@grassrootscali) and Weapons of Audio (@weaponsofaudio) families jamming out too - so come join us for the turn up with Doses & Mimosas and smooth indie dance jams!! Tickets are $12 at the door. Enjoy this preview soundtrack taken from Cherub's dope ass set in Jam in The Van at Bonnaroo, Mind The Gap's Jam In The Van session at The Central SAPC and the sexy beats of Mystery Skulls. ...
Its another week of holiday parties and scrambling to make sure you see everyone before they leave town and enter the entertainment industry dark weeks. Perhaps you'll find them at the Hurricane Sandy comedy benefit going on downtown at Club Nokia with the likes of Will Ferrell, Aziz Ansari, Sarah Silverman and more. Or maybe a local concert like Jhameel's residency at Bootleg with support from the feisty up and coming indie-dance act Mind The Gap? Or maybe they'll be Robert Raimon Roy's record release party at The Standard Hollywood (listening begins at 10:15? Or maybe they'll be somewhere else....
If its somewhere else I might recommend Eastern Conference Champions and Bixby Knolls at The Echo, because its free or Bonhom, Diwon, E-Train, Palter Ego and Neutron at The Central SAPC because its festive and lots of jewish artists will be celebrating with Hannukah performances.

MTV premiered this wicked ghostly video from Childish Gambino. Other rappers should be scared of his forthcoming release on Glassnote, because it is probably going to be spooky spectacular. Anyhow, he drops this - and we share it for your Halloween enjoyment.
If you're in L.A. and want to ensure a Happy Halloween, come out to Bootleg Theaterfor Mind The Gap's last residency show of the month, with Weapons of Audio and indie rock cover band - Black Crystal Wolf Kids. It should also be wicked (in a good way) - and its FREE. Plus, I'm gonna give away some candy there - so it will be sweet too!
