Coachella Line Up Released

We wouldn't really be a music blog if we didn't post this within 24 hours of the line-up being leaked - its the 2013 Coachella line-up.  Digest it and discuss amongst yourselves.  More tickets go on sale here Tuesday.

Tonight in L.A. (November 23, 2012)

After you take down some leftovers, get some Black Friday shopping in and decompress - you might be wise to consider checking out some live music.  It will help you work off those T-day calories and will take your mind off any family drama that may have ensued.  

If you're in LA there is no shortage of musical distractions - from the massive dubstep throwdown that is SMOG's 6 Year Anniversary party at The Roxy to the fun of Yo Gabba Gabba Live! at Nokia Theatre - you should be audibly pleased.   The latter has two performances - one at 2 and one at 5:30 and is actually fun for all, kids and adults included.  The former might be a bit too filthy for the pre-teen crowd.



To dance off that turkey and gravy - Afrojack brings his poptacular production and dance floor anthems to Hollywood Palladium with support from Shermanology, Quintino and R3hab.  For a more indie dance vibe - consider checking out the final 2012 installment of Private Label at Lure with Holy Ghost! and Them Jeans.  Get there early for the Left Over, Do Over's post Thanksgiving celebration, and just stay for the React, DubFrequency and MFG Productions event that has become a Friday night staple for the cool crowd.



Westsiders don't have to travel far to dance - just head to The Central SAPC and catch the Silent Frisco crew mash up Boys Noize with Wu Tang Clan all night long.  It certainly is something you might want to f' with.   If you're really feeling the hip-hop vibes though, then Action Bronson and Cypress Hill at House of Blues or Dom Kennedy at Club Nokia are probably better choices.

Tonight in L.A. (October 24, 2012)

A week before Halloween goes down - you can already start giving your costumes a taste of nightlife if you're going as a ninja by celebrating the pending release of the latest Tarantino influenced Kung fu film, The Man With The Iron Fist, with RZA as he takes to House of Blues Sunset.  He is joined by the Guerilla Union family and a cast of rapping characters – including some Wu brethren (rumors of U God, amongst others) as well as freestyle veterans Supernatural and Kosha Dillz.  Check out the superdope new video from RZA and Black Keys for a song from the film's soundtrack.

Head west on Sunset – and get even more use out of your costume - where you'll find Black Crystal Wolf Kids finishing up their residency of cover (or costume) music at The Viper Room with Ninja Betty and The Nunchix and The Damselles & TC4 -  making it their best line-up yet.  Flume continues tearing up L.A. locals – this time at Low End Theory with Eprom topping the bill.

T. Mills - Ready and Fired in 2010, Exploding in 2011

Local resident Travis Tatum Mills may not yet be on your radar, but that will probably change soon. And he might already be if you've heard of the artist T. Mills. The 21 year old hip-hop-R&B-electropunk hybrid phenom is already a force on the internet and, after seeing one of his performances, I can attest that he is one on stage as well.

The Riverside, CA child sites influences from Wu Tang Clan to Blink 182 to Bone Thugs N Harmony - to recent additions to his playlist like Rusko and Wiz Khalifa. Embracing his multitude of tastes, T. Mills has already reached to a multitude of markets. In 2010, T. Mills could be seen all over the place - from his release of the "Ready, Fire, Aim!" EP to Bamboozle to the Warped Tour to his constantly growing online presence.

Earlier in 2011, I witnessed T. Mills headline and sell out an all ages show at The Troubadour. Not only were teenage girls grabbing for the pierced young hearthtrob's crotch on stage, they lined up to the edge of Doheny and Santa Monica at the end of the show screaming for a photo opportunity. Mind you, they'd been invited by the artist to do so after the show. He took the time to embrace each one of his fans willing to wait in the line while their parents waited outside to pick them up...

With plans to release a mixtape in April featuring production from J Hawk, Matt Squire, Colin Munroe, Hit Boy, The Stereotypes and more - T. Mills won't be resting anytime soon.
