Tonight in L.A. (November 23, 2012)

After you take down some leftovers, get some Black Friday shopping in and decompress - you might be wise to consider checking out some live music.  It will help you work off those T-day calories and will take your mind off any family drama that may have ensued.

If you're in LA there is no shortage of musical distractions - from the massive dubstep throwdown that is SMOG's 6 Year Anniversary party at The Roxy to the fun of Yo Gabba Gabba Live! at Nokia Theatre - you should be audibly pleased.   The latter has two performances - one at 2 and one at 5:30 and is actually fun for all, kids and adults included.  The former might be a bit too filthy for the pre-teen crowd.

To dance off that turkey and gravy - Afrojack brings his poptacular production and dance floor anthems to Hollywood Palladium with support from Shermanology, Quintino and R3hab.  For a more indie dance vibe - consider checking out the final 2012 installment of Private Label at Lure with Holy Ghost! and Them Jeans.  Get there early for the Left Over, Do Over's post Thanksgiving celebration, and just stay for the React, DubFrequency and MFG Productions event that has become a Friday night staple for the cool crowd.

Westsiders don't have to travel far to dance - just head to The Central SAPC and catch the Silent Frisco crew mash up Boys Noize with Wu Tang Clan all night long.  It certainly is something you might want to f' with.   If you're really feeling the hip-hop vibes though, then Action Bronson and Cypress Hill at House of Blues or Dom Kennedy at Club Nokia are probably better choices.

Private Label Turns It Up

Tonight there is another sexy installment of one of L.A.'s hottest new Friday night parties - Private Label at Lure presented by React, DubFrequency and MFG.   While still in its infancy - the event has already been graced by the likes of M83, RAC and Classixx just to name a few - and tonight The Twelves and Penguin Prison step in to deliver what will undoubtedly be some solid sets for the Hollywood crowd.  The promoters know how to put on a party and recruit a crowd - so definitely check it out if you haven't yet.

The turn up gets real around 11 pm and its packed by midnight with solid eye candy and a pulsing dance floor.  If you want elite status - reach out for VIP reservations at vip@lurehollywood.com or contact 323-463-0009 - otherwise get your tickets here.  It goes from 10 - 2.

Sunday Funday: The Do Over, Dub Frequency's Guess Event at Drai's and Miami Horror at Dim Mak Cannonball Sundays

Each year - I get uber excited to attend The Do Over - because it is hands down, the best music event in Los Angeles on most Sunday afternoons.   The tunes are always impressive - even though its often a mystery who will be performing - and the crowd 's always eclectic.

Today will be the first time I attend this season - because sadly, the SUPERGOODMUSIC train has not been able to make it yet in 2012.    BUT its a great day for boogying down in Hollyhood because on top of The Do Over, Treasure Fingers performs at Dub Frequency's Guess event at Drai's Hollywood from 12-6 too and then Miami Horror takes over for Dim Mak's Cannonball Sundays later that night.

You can RSVP for all the events - but arriving early is advised....which means, I got to stop typing and get in my ride.  DO OVER - here I come.

The Do Over happens every Sunday in Los Angeles in the summer from 2-10 PM at LURE (formerly Cabana Club) at 1439 Ivar Avenue.  RSVP at thedoover.net/la

Re:Mix Lab Going Down Tonight (FREE w/ RSVP)

Are you sad that you're not invited to a gang of industry holiday parties? The ones with free drinks, free entertainment and famous people? Its not like those parties are worth life in the mailroom and sacrificing actually decent income and normal working hours just to have a taste of the famous life. But - Antenna and the cool people with Dub Frequency have teamed up with Hyundai to make that experience attainable for all.

All you have to do is RSVP to Antenna's RE:MIX Lab (Fueled by Hyundai Veloster). You can do that here. Then you just have to show up at 401 S. Main Street and be 21 or older.

Antenna, Hyundai and Dub Frequency will be treating all guests like they are members of the who's who. From 9 pm to midnight - you'll not only be well wined, but you also be entertained by the likes of Yeasayer, College, DJ Neil Armstrong, Them Jeans and live band play from Caught A Ghost. College is responsible for the title track to Drive, so you know they are in high demand right now!

Its definitely a gathering not to be missed - so come enjoy the free drinks and free tunes with us :D

Keeping it Cremey

Dub Frequency (DF) is smacking LA in the face with some cool parties this weekend.

Tonight, Creme De La Creme is at Foundation Room at House of Blues on Sunset. Blaqstarr holds it down, with support from a few friends. I'll be there post T. Mills.

Tomorrow, the dF crew heads downtown to The Standard for a No Shirt, No Shoes curated pool party with musical stylings from Poolside, Futurecop!, Fiero and more! It is their 1st pool party of the summer, so you know it will be banging.

RSVP to the events for FREE entry at www.dubfrequency.com
