Tonight in L.A. (October 28, 2012)

On this last Sunday of October you could spend your day watching football and recovering from the Halloween weekend that was - or you could continue to hit the pavement and get your metaphorical trick or treat on.

If you're looking to do the latter - start in Venice today with the friendly folks from Jam In The Van at the rally for Matt Kline for Venice City Council.  JITV's recruited a few artists to get in their rig - like Robert Delong, Zach Deputy and locals Restavrant - so roll thru to see what their recording experience is like in the flesh...and while you're at it, vote if you're a Venice resident.

Speaking of JITV, van veteran Meiko joins Donovan for a set at El REy Theatre tonight.  Lights and Arkells at Fonda Theatre or Anya Marina & Friends at The Hotel Cafe might please a similar crowd.

IF you need your Sunday to be a bit more turned up - consider the Boo Over at Lure, the Dance of the Dead at Drai's Hollywood with Yuksek, Thee Mike B and DJ Metric, Armin Van Buuren at Exchange LA or join the beachside party at Del Monte Speakeasy for Bacchanal with guest appearances from members of De La Soul's band and resident DJ's Mr. NumberOnederful and DJ Bu$rider.   Note that costumes are required for the Boo Over - which you can RSVP for here.

Sunday Funday: The Do Over, Dub Frequency's Guess Event at Drai's and Miami Horror at Dim Mak Cannonball Sundays

Each year - I get uber excited to attend The Do Over - because it is hands down, the best music event in Los Angeles on most Sunday afternoons.   The tunes are always impressive - even though its often a mystery who will be performing - and the crowd 's always eclectic.

Today will be the first time I attend this season - because sadly, the SUPERGOODMUSIC train has not been able to make it yet in 2012.    BUT its a great day for boogying down in Hollyhood because on top of The Do Over, Treasure Fingers performs at Dub Frequency's Guess event at Drai's Hollywood from 12-6 too and then Miami Horror takes over for Dim Mak's Cannonball Sundays later that night.

You can RSVP for all the events - but arriving early is advised....which means, I got to stop typing and get in my ride.  DO OVER - here I come.

The Do Over happens every Sunday in Los Angeles in the summer from 2-10 PM at LURE (formerly Cabana Club) at 1439 Ivar Avenue.  RSVP at thedoover.net/la

SLEEP OVER FOR ADULTS

The infamous crew that brings you the Do Over every Sunday in L.A. during the Summer have decided to storm the desert to throw a weekend party in the dead of winter. Consider this your official extended Weekend Alert as Saturday and Sunday February 19th and 20th respectively, The Sleep-Over presented by Red Bull and adidas Originals is going down.

The Do-Over crew will take to the 10 fwy and arrive at the Ace Hotel and Swim Club in Palm Springs for a very special Presidents 3 Day Weekend get down.

In typical Do-Over fashion, all events are free and the DJ’s are a mystery.

Act fast as the Ace Hotel is filling up. We’ve provided additional lodging options below as we want all the Do-Over extended family to come through regardless of where they may end up leaving their luggage.
