The Noise From The Cemetery...

Trippy video from Computer Jay....just in time for Halloween.  Get your zombie on with Noise From The Cemetery....

Noise From The Cemetery(Re-Animator Mix Ft. Ali BABA Abnormal)- Computer Jay from Computer Jay on Vimeo.

Tonight in L.A. (October 31, 2012) - Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween.  The LA concert calendar gets some real treats on this night - like the LACMA Halloween Ball featuring a Stanley Kubrick Exhibition and the soundscapes of Daedelus and his Archimedes exhibition.  Wickedly ill is one apt way to describe that event.

The same could be said for another location that Daedelus is familiar with - The Airliner and Low End Theory.  Karreim Riggins, Nastynasty, Daddy Kev, Nobody, Gaslamp Killer and Nocando all get down plus an very very special guest.  If you want to figure out who that is - you better be wearing a costume or be prepared to cough up a nice benjamin - because its a $100 cover for the costume-less.

Another Halloween party is taking place at The CenTRILL SAPC.  Its not really spelled like that - but with Trill Murray, Inspired Flight and Minnesota all performing at a special Halloween jam, it should be for this night.

As far as dance parties go though - I may be most excited for the sexy new disco of Disclosure at El Rey Theatre.  If you want hot sexy dance tunes - look no further than these boys from across the pond.

Elsewhere - I really like Dustbowl Revival at Virgil.  They will be having fun - no matter whether they're rocking a 5 piece or 10 piece or something in between (rumor has it there will be a healthy lot of them for Halloween).  The Mint hosts the well traveled Donna The Buffalo with support from The Makepeace Brothers, All Time Low rocks The House of Blues on Sunset, and local soulful funk crew House of Vibe All Stars hold things down for westsiders at Harvelles.

Los Globos Gets Served (Closes Temporarily)

Rumor on the Sunset Blvd. is that emerging dance club and late night unwind spot, Club Los Globos, closed its doors today after having their dance and live music permits cancelled by the city on October 29, 2012.  Although the motives behind the rescinding of their paperwork are not yet clear to me - local resident discontent probably has something to do with it as the venue caught some flack for its penchant for all night events and intoxicated patrons.    But - what do you expect from a music venue?

Los Globos was a welcomed addition to the after hours menu of venues, as well as becoming a hub for emerging talent and hot promoters and labels (Iheartcomix, Mad Decent, A Club Called Rhonda, Vice, SMOG and LA Records had each thrown events there).  Owner Steve Edelson made true on his promise of maintaining the club's Latin identity, while simultaneously expanding its musical horizons with a larger dance floor that was DJ friendly and improving the downstairs sound.   Coupled with Edelson's other property holdings in the neighborhood - Globos was shaping up to be a legit force in competing for and hosting late night dance events.

Provided the venue can reacquire their permits, the venue could reopen in as little as 45 days, just in time for holiday celebrations and New Years Eve events.  We're putting in a little SUPERGOOD prayer that the permits are reacquired or reinstated.  Until then - the club remains closed with the exception of private events.

Tonight in L.A. (October 30, 2012)

Its Halloween eve - so repress your costumes and embrace them for the second to last time of 2012.  Tonight there are a host of events to choose from - including traditional Halloween style shenanigans like The Rocky Horror Picture Show at Yost Theater or a costume dance party, like at Dim Mak Studios.

Close to Dim Mak, Miike Snow along with Niki & The Dove lay down some sexy tunes - so maybe hit up the Hollywood Palladium before closing down Dim Mak.  Another worthy Halloween eve concert is Cadence Weapon at The Satellite - where he is joined by Fat Tony and Subtitle for a night of eclectic hip-hop.

An unexpected Halloween treat comes in the form of Aziz Ansari and friends who roll out laughter at Largo for an Obama Benefit.

Other notables include Bob Mould at El Rey Theatre, The New Limb at The Central SAPC (for FREE) and BuzzBands 4 Year + Anniversary party at Federal Bar with Voxhaul Broadcast, Gliss and more.

Check Yo Ponytail Celebrates 2 Years Next Week

Close followers of the LA live music scene or frequent foot traffickers of Sunset in Silverlake and Echo Park may have noticed an absence of Check Yo Ponytail shows this week - but rest assured, Franki Chan, Danny Johnson and family are not asleep at the wheel.  They are steering their party to an epic two year celebration.

They've recruited the biggest party animal of them all - Andrew W.K. - to headline their (re)birthday party at The Echoplex that includes additional music from Icona Pop, Diamond Rings, Cherie Lily and Aleister X.  Its 18+ and advance tickets are only $10 - so there is no doubt this thing sells out.  Get your tickets - or try to win them via SUPERGOOD, but we've only got one pair to share so you might just want to buy....If you feel like testing your luck too - just tweet out @checkyoponytail @supergoodmusic @iheartcomix and @andrewWK to enter or email us at contest@supergoodmusic.com.

If you didn't think the epic birthday party was enough of a treat - Iheartcomix is also hosting Dark Dark Dark, Emily Wells and Miss M.E. at The Echoplex on the 5th and Mount Kimbie with Grenier and Groundislava on the 8th at Los Globos.  Look for giveaways to those shows in next week's Concert Blast.

Rage on.  Hard.  W.K.  Style.

Tonight in L.A. (October 28, 2012)

On this last Sunday of October you could spend your day watching football and recovering from the Halloween weekend that was - or you could continue to hit the pavement and get your metaphorical trick or treat on.

If you're looking to do the latter - start in Venice today with the friendly folks from Jam In The Van at the rally for Matt Kline for Venice City Council.  JITV's recruited a few artists to get in their rig - like Robert Delong, Zach Deputy and locals Restavrant - so roll thru to see what their recording experience is like in the flesh...and while you're at it, vote if you're a Venice resident.

Speaking of JITV, van veteran Meiko joins Donovan for a set at El REy Theatre tonight.  Lights and Arkells at Fonda Theatre or Anya Marina & Friends at The Hotel Cafe might please a similar crowd.

IF you need your Sunday to be a bit more turned up - consider the Boo Over at Lure, the Dance of the Dead at Drai's Hollywood with Yuksek, Thee Mike B and DJ Metric, Armin Van Buuren at Exchange LA or join the beachside party at Del Monte Speakeasy for Bacchanal with guest appearances from members of De La Soul's band and resident DJ's Mr. NumberOnederful and DJ Bu$rider.   Note that costumes are required for the Boo Over - which you can RSVP for here.
