Tonight in L.A. (February 19, 2013)

The launch of a shorter work week is never cause for too much excitement - but L.A.'s entertainment options tonight are.

Fans of brass get a healthy dosage of it from Sexmob at The Mint for their special Sexmob Plays Fellini experience.  We're dropping a pair of tickets on some lucky winner so tweet out @supergoodmusic @mintLA to join the action or just email contest@supergoodmusic.com.

For other eclectic sounds - consider French Horn Rebellion's live set at Dim Mak Studios, where they are joined by Blende and a few others. Ryat and Rainbow Arabia get sonically eclectic at Los Globos.

If you want to laugh til your face hurts - I must suggest Nick Kroll and Friends at Largo.   If his show on Comedy Central remotely reflects what goes down live, you may want to wear a diaper...

Los Globos Gets Served (Closes Temporarily)

Rumor on the Sunset Blvd. is that emerging dance club and late night unwind spot, Club Los Globos, closed its doors today after having their dance and live music permits cancelled by the city on October 29, 2012.  Although the motives behind the rescinding of their paperwork are not yet clear to me - local resident discontent probably has something to do with it as the venue caught some flack for its penchant for all night events and intoxicated patrons.    But - what do you expect from a music venue?

Los Globos was a welcomed addition to the after hours menu of venues, as well as becoming a hub for emerging talent and hot promoters and labels (Iheartcomix, Mad Decent, A Club Called Rhonda, Vice, SMOG and LA Records had each thrown events there).  Owner Steve Edelson made true on his promise of maintaining the club's Latin identity, while simultaneously expanding its musical horizons with a larger dance floor that was DJ friendly and improving the downstairs sound.   Coupled with Edelson's other property holdings in the neighborhood - Globos was shaping up to be a legit force in competing for and hosting late night dance events.

Provided the venue can reacquire their permits, the venue could reopen in as little as 45 days, just in time for holiday celebrations and New Years Eve events.  We're putting in a little SUPERGOOD prayer that the permits are reacquired or reinstated.  Until then - the club remains closed with the exception of private events.

Tonight in L.A. (October 26, 2012)

Halloween Weekend is on like Donkey Kong in Los Angeles with plenty of costume parties on the bill for tonight.  No costume party will rage harder than the Collaborative Media extravaganza at Vanguard.  The bill features not only a live performance from The Presets - but DJ sets from Australia's Miami Horror, members of The Rapture, Etienne De Crecy, Foster The People, Guns in The Sun and more.    Get tickets here.   You can also dance in a costume at clubs downtown with Sex Panther at Belasco Theater or in the O.C. at Yost Theater or Detroit Bar.

To move to some filthy beats - go to Club Nokia for Flying Lotus, The Gaslamp Killer and Jeremiah Jae or - if you want lyrics and posses - go to A$Ap Rocky, Schoolyboy Q and Danny Brown at Hollywood Palladium.  Downsize for some more intimate hip-hop at The Roxy with Dilated Peoples, Fashawn, LMNO and DJ Mishaps.

Punk out for a homo-ween event at Los Globos with SSion.  Go for free by winning tickets through us - just tweet out @iheartcomix @clublosglobos and @supergoodmusic in the same tweet to enter.  If you want to be spooked by guitar play - Jon Brion at Largo could be your jam.

Tonight in L.A. (October 19, 2012)

Its Friday night, and I feel alright, the party's here on the.....eastside actually.  Venues heat up with some steamy steamy music - whether its Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings daptone soul supporting Paul Weller at Greek Theatre or the DJ battle throw down with Morsecode x Waldo, Low Limit x SodaPop, Brrang A Dang, Franki Chan and more at Los Globos.

A little further east in Echo Park - Echoplex plays host to Ultraista and Matthewdavid and things get a little funky upstairs with Rich Medina and Jump n Funk at The Echo

Hollywood doesn't disappoint either as the sweet serenading voice of Allen Stone echoes through the chambers of Fonda Theatre with Yuna and Tingsek supporting.  Avalon hosts the heavy bass from Datsik as well as Teravita and Xgore.

Unfortunately the party doesn't really reach the westside tonight, at least not the best party - but it does get to West Hollywood where Frightened Rabbit plays a sold out show at Troubadour and Foreign Exchange heats up the floor at Key Club.
