Its not your average Tuesday this 26th of February because Check Yo Ponytail hits The Echoplex with an amazing line up and Dim Mak Studios is turning things up Jet Life style. For the uninitiated - let's decipher.
Franki Chan's Check Yo Ponytail party very often takes the cake as the top live music event on any given night that its going down - but tonight's extravaganza at The Echoplex with Com Truise, XXYYXX, Teen Daze and Penthouse Penthouse should be extra special. Tickets are limited, so if you were not able to cop one - then definitely consider swinging to Dim Mak Studios where emerging newcomer Goldroom, Viceroy and Ghost Beach will be laying down a high quality dance party soundtrack. Anyone who peeped Viceroy's recent series of Jet Life remixes of the likes of B.I.G., Montell Jordan and Mark Morrsion should know what I am talking about.
Elsewhere in the Holly-hood, Skye of Morcheeba hits The Hotel Cafe's stage, Falling Still performs at Hemingway's and Diddy rages at Supperclub.

Close followers of the LA live music scene or frequent foot traffickers of Sunset in Silverlake and Echo Park may have noticed an absence of Check Yo Ponytail shows this week - but rest assured, Franki Chan, Danny Johnson and family are not asleep at the wheel. They are steering their party to an epic two year celebration.
They've recruited the biggest party animal of them all - Andrew W.K. - to headline their (re)birthday party at The Echoplex that includes additional music from Icona Pop, Diamond Rings, Cherie Lily and Aleister X. Its 18+ and advance tickets are only $10 - so there is no doubt this thing sells out. Get your tickets - or try to win them via SUPERGOOD, but we've only got one pair to share so you might just want to buy....If you feel like testing your luck too - just tweet out @checkyoponytail @supergoodmusic @iheartcomix and @andrewWK to enter or email us at contest@supergoodmusic.com.
If you didn't think the epic birthday party was enough of a treat - Iheartcomix is also hosting Dark Dark Dark, Emily Wells and Miss M.E. at The Echoplex on the 5th and Mount Kimbie with Grenier and Groundislava on the 8th at Los Globos. Look for giveaways to those shows in next week's Concert Blast.
Today is not just an ordinary first Saturday. Today and tonight is a circus of music in Los Angeles.
From the early afternoon musings of B.A.M. in Santa Monica featuring a couple of bands - including roots rock faves Dustbowl Revival to the eclectic soundscapes at the 14th Annual Eagle Rock Music Festival and Filter Magazine's 3rd Culture Collide Festival - LA has it going on.
If you're choosing between ERMF and Culture Collide - your love of the beat scene or lack thereof should dictate your choice. If you love beat culture - I'd recommend a visit to ERMF because Thundercat, Daedelus, Peanut Butter Wolf, Jonwayne, J-Rocc and Dub Club Sound System are all playing. If you don't - the rock offerings of Culture Collide features a plethora of international talent and artists you couldn't see on most other weekends in LA. Whereas ERMF has a lot of local rock talent - tonight's Culture Collide line-up features the likes of Of Montreal, Icona Pop, Niki and The Dove, Gold Fields and more.
Also on the east side of town - Stepdad rocks The Satellite and Furthur featuring Bob Weir and Phil Lesh jams the Greek Theatre.
Staples Center hosts The Black Keys with Tegan and Sara for a second night in a row - and The Roxy sees the return of She Wants Revenge and Franki Chan - this time with The Child and The Lonely Trees as additional support. Also on the strip - Xzibit headlines Key Club with a handful of local MCs on their grind, including FOCI, opening.
The sleeper show of the night has to be Shpongle Presents: The Masquerade at Hollywood Palladium - apparently Michael Menert and Break Science were just added to the bill. We have a pair of tickets to give away to that - so do hit us up at contest@supergoodmusic.com or tweet out @supergoodmusic @thepalladium.
Other notables include Dustbowl Revival's double duty at B.A.M. and then McCabe's in Santa Monica, Z.Z. Ward at Space 15 Twenty in the early evening, Yelawolf and Rittz and The Observatory and The Soul of John Black at WitZend. All recommendations are in bold below.

For first Friday - the concert calendar is filthy - from the guitars of The Black Keys at Staples Center to the bass and beats of Big Gigantic and Griz at House of Blues on Sunset. Download Big G's "Let's Go" to amplify your weekend - whether you're at the show or not.
For the festival goers - Culture Collide has a host of talent playing. I like Taix's Champagne Room the best with Mr. Little Jeans, Unknown Mortal Orchestra, Magic Wands and Voxhaul Broadcast. Dangerbird artists Royal Teeth are the highlight on a bill that includes School of Seven Bells at The Echoplex.Your Culture Collide wristband also gets you into 826LA for some laughter courtesy of Natasha Leggero and friends.
For the Hollywood bound - Treasure Fingers puts the speakers to work at Avalon and Dam Funk does the same at The Fonda as support for Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti. Just down the block - new school rockers meet 90s stars as Dead Sara and Neon Trees support The Offspring at Hollywood Palladium.
Westsiders can enjoy First Friday's with a variety of performances and art spectacles - including Dustbowl Revival at Joe's, or go a little further south and jam out with Particle at Saint Rocke. Over at The Central SAPC - doctors turned rockers Das Tapes get down.
Other notables include She Wants Revenge at The Roxy with DJ'd tunes courtesy of Franki Chan, Furthurat Greek Theatre, Richie Spice at The Mint, Dr. Dog atJohn Anson Ford Amphitheatre and Twin Shadow atThe Observatory.

Tonight get down with the emerging dope filth that is Clicks & Whistles at Los Globos.
Likely to cut up the best in fresh beats that you've hardly ever heard - Clicks & Whistles bring a refreshing grind to the beat scene. Low End Theory heads should take notice and anyone looking to accelerate their HAM situation tonight should show up at Globos before midnight - which is when Clicks & Whistles allegedly take the stage. Its an IHC Presents event - so you know the visuals will be dope, the crowd will be colorful and the music on point. Due to travel complications - Sinjin Hawke had to bail - so Sinden is stepping in, along with FuzZ and Keltronix. Snag tickets so you can come whenever you want at www.iheartcomix.com or wait for the door - its $12. You can also enter our contest for a pair of tickets by emailing contest@supergoodmusic.com or tweeting out @supergoodmusic @iheartcomix @clicksxwhistles #ff. Winner will be chosen in 2 hours.
