Tonight in L.A. (December 6, 2012)

Hip hop fans should be cranking things up in West Hollywood a notch tonight with Clyde Carson slowing things down at Key Club and PacDiv, Tiron & Ayomari, Thurz (from U-N-I), Shawn Chrys and more getting urban at The Roxy.  You know you'll be able to catch me somewhere in that Sunset Strip hood.

Can't handle the top song on Power 106?  Maybe you want to laugh at Largo with Demetri Martin at his Infrequent Show with uncommon guests?  Or make a dance floor filthy with Lazrtag at Yost Theater?  Or see No Doubt bust out their final performance of their Gibson Amphitheatre run?

Maybe you just want to keep it indie...in which case I recommend The Lonely Wild at The Echo.  For a complete list of tonight's LA shows see the list below.

Tonight in L.A. (November 30, 2012)

Do the end of your month and start of your weekend right by going out to catch some live entertainment as there is PLENTY of it in Los Angeles tonight.  From another installment of No Doubt at Gibson Amphitheatre to Nas ruling the world with Lauryn Hill at Wiltern to Mike Dillon Band going go-go jungle dirty on drums at The Mint - many houses will be raging heavy tonight.

The aforementioned No Doubt get support from Fitz & The Tantrums and The Aggrolites making for a very special SoCal performance.

For Mike Dillon - we are giving away a couple pairs of tickets.  Just tweet out @mintLA or email contest@supergoodmusic.com to get in on the action.  If you dig jazz, but a more mellow version of it consider Bela Fleck & Marcus Roberts at Catalina Jazz Club.

Recent Capitol signees Capital Cities throw down a friday night indie pop electro party at The Roxy, but for heavier electronics I'd recommend Simian Mobile Disco at Fonda Theatre.  The dance floor will be sweaty and packed for them and Dave P.  To get down to the hip hop of so cal visit Key Club for Fashawn and Strong Arm Steady, with support from FOCI and hopefully some surprise appearances (Murs is in town....).

And, for laughter, consider Club Nokia because Shaquille O'Neal's All Star Comedy Jam never disappoints!

Tonight in L.A. (November 26, 2012)

Its back to work and that end of the year grind for most of us today - including musicians.  This final Monday brings the end of a handful of residencies, most notably The Record Company at The Satellite who will be joined by Das Tapes, The Peach Kings, Strange Vine and KCRW's Jason Kramer.  Its pretty much a power line up of local indie - so make sure to check it out.

If you are disinclined to the eastside - Hollywood offers Its A School Night at Bardot with Rah Rah and the Sunset Strip plays host to The Neighbourhood at The Viper Room and Lindsey Stirling at The Roxy.  I recommend the former over the latter - but that's just my preference.

No list would be complete without mentioning No Doubt's show at Gibson Amphitheatre.  The second of a handful that the revived act brings to the venue.  And honorable mention goes to Organ Freeman at The Mint whose name is just that cool...

A full list of shows is below.

  • No Doubt @ Gibson Amphitheatre
  • In The Valley Below, Cotillon, Omniflux, Sabrosa Purr @ Bootleg Bar (FREE)
  • The Record Company, Das Tapes, The Peach Kings, Strange Vine, Jason Kramer (KCRW) @ The Satellite (FREE)
  • Wild Belle, Deep Sea Diver, Pageants @ The Echo
  • Cosmonauts, The Garden, Feeding Pepole, The Abigails @ Echoplex (FREE)
  • Brooke Telarico, Ariana Hall, Kenneth Aaron Harris, Joel Eckels, Adam Levy @ Room 5 Lounge
  • Jordan Booth, Jason Josepeh & The Spectacular, Drew @ The Hotel Café (Free after 9:45)
