Its the final day of March and with a rather thin concert line-up, it may be time for some spring cleaning and Easter/Passover reflection. Once you've hunted for those eggs (hopefully Hunter S. Thompson style), indulged in enough shank bone and bitters, or gotten your spot so fresh and clean - maybe you'd consider checking out Chuck Inglish's Sounds Like Fun at The Central SAPC. The monthly hip-hop gathering hosted by The Cool Kid is slowly becoming a staple of the L.A. hip-hop circuit.
Wax Idols at The Echoplex and Dim Mak's Easter Sunday party at Drais are also worthy of mention. Full list of tonight's shows below...

It's Saturday and there's a ton going on in Los Angeles this weekend. So unless you pull for one of the eight teams left in the NCAA's you have no reason to stay inside. Kansas fans, this means you (Go Blue).
I digress, on to the music...
If you're on the Westside tonight, get your butts over to the Santa Monica Pier to see Poolside and Yacht, as it's shaping up to be a lovely evening weather-wise. You could even win a set of tickets via our giveaways page. Just tweet @SUPERGOODMUSIC, @JAMINTHEVAN, @POOLSIDE, #SaMoPier to enter. Or email Contests@SUPERGOODMUSIC.com with the subject "Poolside."
That party keeps going afterwards with DJ sets over at the Pier Carrousel.
The Last Bison are playing The Mint tonight and we highly recommend going to check out this on the rise Americana act. They have some steam behind them and this might be a chance encounter to see them in such an intimate venue.
If you're looking for something low key and low cost then the Sound City screening at The Bootleg Theater is probably right up your alley. Josh Boyd will be there performing songs from In Utero and Raw Geronimo will perform songs from Fleetwood Mac.
The full list for the day is below, and the rest of the weekend can be found over on our concert BLAST, which you should sign up for if you haven't. Duh.

Do you like The Avett Brothers? The Lumineers? Heartless Bastards? Tallest Man on Earth? Bands that fall into that overly broad but in a good way "Americana" category? If so, then you may want to jump on The Last Bison bandwagon as soon as possible. Lucky for you we're giving away a pair of tickets to do just that at The Mint LA this Saturday, March 30. To win just tweet at "@SUPERGOODMUSIC, @JamintheVan, @MintLA, @TheLastBison #LastBison, or email us at Contests@SUPERGOODMUSIC.com with The Last Bison in the subject.
There's a good chance that this band, who is signed to Universal Music Group, takes off in the next year, so catching them in an intimate venue like The Mint might be worth its weight in "remember when" stories come next year. Dig on their video for a cover of M83's "Midnight City" as well as their full album over on their Bandcamp.
Get rooty with Dustbowl Revival and friends at The Echo tonight. Its been a while since they played the east side - but they've definitely got that indie ethos, so don't miss out. Try your hand at winning tickets from us by tweeting out @jaminthevan @dustbowlrevival @theEchoLA @supergoodmusic or simply emailing contest@supergoodmusic.com if your twitter game isn't too strong.
Also on the east side and a courtesy contest tip, you can enjoy the sounds of Jamie Lidell at The Echoplex. Mention him on twitter or email us with his name in the subject heading and you just might win some tickets. A few other good hits for the night would be Toots and Maytals at House of Blues - Sunset Strip. The We Are/She Is release party at Alex's Bar with Jhameel. Cassian at The Central. The Vans Warped Tour kick off with MC Lars and more at Club Nokia. Or Ghostface Killah - ARTDONTSLEEP w/ Gaslamp Killer, Blue and Exile at the Mayan Theater. If you haven't read Ghostface's softest rappers lists yet, you should.
If none of that strikes your fancy but you still want to party, see the full show list below.

It's Thursday yo! Otherwise affectionately known as the "Weekend Warmup." So those of you Los Angelenos not watching basketball all night, or who need to go drown your sorrows after Michigan waxes your team, here are the places we suggest getting your auditory fix on for the evening.
For those of you looking for some OG's well look no further than Bobby Dee, clubben.com & Behind the Scenes present: West Coast Fest Hosted by Big Boy, ft. DJ Quick, E-40, Too Short, Warren G, Mack 10, Baby Bash, Clyde Carson, Problem, Skeme, & special guests at Club Nokia. That is no doubt a lot of OGs on one stage.
Speaking of OG's, Clutch is in town at the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip. Friggin Clutch man!
There are also a couple of excellent offerings over towards Echo Park as Har Mar Superstar, The Virgins, and C.O.L.O.R. will surely crush the intimate Bootleg Theater, while Black Lips, Night Beats, and Beach Party will be teaching kids to be destructive over at the El Rey.
If none of that floats your boat, perhaps check out the Dustbowl Revival at the Harvard and Stone. An interesting spot to see the Dustbowl, let's hope that the pants in the audience aren't too tight for dancing... Get it? Meh, crap joke, Anyways, that seems like plenty of stuff to help you keep it cool this evening, and that's what you should do.
This new video from Big Black Delta will help with that too:
Hip Hop Heads, the 8th annual Paid Dues Festival is a mere two weeks away, do you have your tickets? If you don't you better get on it, because this year promoters Murs 3:16 and Guerrilla Union have put down on paper one of the most eclectic hip hop festival lineups that you will ever see, regardless of the year, place, or time.
It's going down on March 30th at the San Manuel Amphitheater in San Bernadino. The line-up and schedule are already up. In all there are forty acts participating in the fest including heavy hitters like Macklemore, Talib Kweli, Trinidad James, De La Soul, and Tech N9ne. We here at SUPERGOODMUSIC are pretty stoked about sets from Hopsin, Grouch & Eligh, Swollen Members, Killer Mike, Black Hippy, and of course, our favorite rapper and trippy aficionado Mr. Juicy J!
Let us know if you're going to be at Paid Dues and who you're looking forward to seeing in our comments section or on twitter @JamintheVan, and when you go to the festival, remember to wear sunscreen, cause literally everyone there will be "spitting hot fire!" - Dylon (who will not be on the line up)
Hump day yo! Insert sexual innuendo there and proceed to the recommended concerts that will no doubt help you find that hump at the end of the day. I mean, get over that hump.
Anyhow, an exceptional week of music offerings continues in Los Angeles with Mos Def at The Belasco Theater. It's not so often that this place has a concert going on, and this happens to be an awesome one, so if you've got tix or still can get, then lucky you. Also lucky you if you're going to check out Imagine Dragons at The Wiltern for their Night Visions Tour or Wavves + FIDLAR, & Cheatahs at The Echo. I know for sure the latter is sold out, so hit the Craigslist if you're trying to get there last minute. It should be pretty fuzzy up in there. I expect a lot of angst riddled youngins who are angry with their parents to attend.
However, if you have no tickets to any of the bigger marquees this evening and your pockets are running a bit thin, consider the packed line up at tonight's Low End Theory at The Airliner featuring Baths, DAUWD, Dark Time Sunshine, TA-KU + residents Daddy Kev, Nobody, The Gaslamp Killer, D-Styles, & Nocando, that place will probably be pretty turnt tonight. Question is, will you?
Here it is boyz and girlz, the fall-off that I've been talking about for the past week or so. Tonight's concert calendar is PACKED and it only get's headier throughout the week.
The most eclectic offering on this Turn't Up Tuesday evening would probably be (in my humble opinion) The Virgins + Har Mar Superstar + C.O.L.O.R at The Constellation Room. Even if it was just a Har Mar Superstar show there would be a lot going on there, but add in the other two acts and that's a whole scene.
If you're hanging closer to mainland LA then might we suggest Black Francis at The Mint for a nice low-key evening of solid tunage. Or if you venture over to Echo Park dig the post SXSW influx at The Echoplex with Chelsea Light Moving (ft. Thurston Moore), Grass Widow, and buzz artist Waxahatchee.
Not to overcomplicate your decision, but there are also very intriguing offerings at The El Rey where you'll find Lianne La Havas and Jamie N Commons, The Hotel Cafe with Bernhoft and Robert Francis performing, and at The FondaJosh Ritter does what Josh Ritter does.
Like I said PACKED, and there's even more on the BLAST. So I hope y'all did your taxes, saved your change, and can make it out to some shows this week...
Hooray Monday! What do you have in store for the fine people of Los Angeles tonight? Well, for those of you back from SXSW, I assume your agenda involves sleeping and bathing. For others, Monday night is just another Friday night, and for those of you with music on the mind this evening we see a few spots where you just might want to gravitate towards.
The Joy Formidable will be try to live up to their name at The Observatory. If you don't leave with a big smile then they failed. If you do, then everyone's a winner. For those of you who have a lot of post Monday work day stress to mosh out, try the Anti-Flag 20th Anniversary Show at the Troubadour featuring Dead To Me, Donots, and Chotto Ghetto.
Further East you'll find The Specials and Little Hurricane at Club Nokia and for far less money (FREE) you'll find Harper Simon at The Satellite for his third residency show. He's supported by Willoughby, Henry Wolfe, Heather Porcarro which all sounds very pleasant.
For more listings check our weekly concert BLAST...
Oh man, it's St. Paddy's Day. definitely not my favorite holiday, I suppose that's the Jew in me, but I'm not going to be a St. Paddy's Day Grinch. That's bad vibes, I hate those more so then I do watching girls puke green stuff in the streets. So I encourage you all to wear all shades of green, drink green stuff, and smoke green stuff today, and also, to go slur your words at some concerts, cause you can yell as loud as you want at a show, sometimes it's encouraged, you know, if it's that type of show. Don't bring a drum to a Phish show though, my buddy learned that the hard way.
So then, if after that intro you're like "dude, what shows are there to see?" Well here is my response:
Over on the Westside The Toledo Show is going down at Harvelle's, and that's always a good time. Dude is wild. Plus he's got dancing ladies. Don't go if you are allergic to Black & Mild smoke.
If you'd prefer blurrily stumbling through Downtown LA, then we're never ones to dissuade you from taking in a Dustbowl Revival performance. They'll be playing for free at The Redwood Bar joined by The Cerny Brothers and The Show Ponies.
There are some cool St. Paddy's day events going off on the hip side of town (Echo Park/Silverlake). Part Time Punks is never a bad call, especially on a night when they've got the CRASS tribute band covering "Penis Envy." There's also Olin's 11th Annual St. Paddy's Day Bash over at The Satellite. There they'll be performing "Rum, Sodomy, and the Lash" by The Pogues, that actually sounds like a damn good time. There's some other stuff on the Sunday calendar, so check out the blast if none of that floats your boat.
If you take it easy tonight no worries, SXSW is officially donezo for 2013, and LA is about to catch a wave of good music as a result. So keep it heady, and in honor of St. Paddy, when in doubt, puke it out!
Friday has arrived, and I wish I had a bit more to tell you, but it looks like it's going to be a slow one as far as concert offerings go. You've got to figure that Thursday through Saturday are the big days down in Austin, and so the fall-off is slim during those three days. You've got to wait till SXSW is done with these bands and tosses them back to the world before you catch the real fall-off. This is however still Los Angeles, and regardless of what day of the week it is or what's going on anywhere else, there's always something going on here.
Some highlights off of the calendar are as follows:
The Dustbowl Revival pops up in our neck of the woods at the Del Monte Speakeasy. So get yourself an Old Fashioned and do a little dancing.
You could also spaz out with The Spazmatics atThe Dakota Lounge. Or do whatever it is one would do at a Glitter Dick show at The Redwood Bar.
For our friends in the Silverlake/Echo Park area, your locals have some decent offerings this evening, with The Black Ryder heading a bill at The Echo that also includes Gateway Drugs and Young Prisms, while over at The Satellite you can find Battle Tapes, if that's indeed who you are looking for.
Alright that's all I've got, check the Blast for the full concert calendar!
What happens when you've got an amazing venue, a great sound and production team, and two weeks until your SXSW show date and absolutely no line up? You call SUPERGOODMUSIC and they come to the rescue like Ghostbusters.
With a couple years of SXSW shows under our belt, and some great family in the G Pen team and Allhiphop.com crew, we've recruited some serious heavyweights as well as emerging artists to perform at the GPEN & SUPERGOODMUSIC Present the Allhiphop.com Breeding Ground Showcase.
Local K. Paul paves the way on the main stage for No LImit Forever, Talib Kweli, Problem and Raekwon to get rowdy and the patio is going to be pretty amped too with the likes of Kosha Dillz, Sahtyre, Watch The Duck and G-Eazy!
If you're looking for a healthy dosage of hip-hop - this is the place to be Thursday night. RSVP to the eventbrite page here. DO NOT SLEEP ON THIS!!!!
LA, you've got some heady options for your concert-going needs tonight. If you're asking us, which it seems like you might be if you're looking at this, then we'd have to say that the hot ticket this evening would be The Nigel Hall Band at The Mint. You will not find a better bang for your buck tonight, so digging that is highly recommended.
However, if you're in the mood for something a little lighter perhaps check out the comedy and musical stylings and musical comedy stylings of Reggie Watts at Largo.
If you're looking to spend no monies then might we point you in the direction of the Silverlake Lounge where the bill is chalk full of bands whom I've never heard of, but whose names got me kind of excited. So if Dolphins and Shit, Stripper Pussy, and Gaytheist sound like intriguing musical acts to you, then this might be where you belong.
<iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/mNvuhLbzam4" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>Now, for those of you lucky enough to be in Austin today, do not, I repeat, DO NOT sleep on our SUPERGOODMUSIC X G-PEN Allhiphop.com Breeding Ground Showcase featuring some serious rap game heavy hitters like Raekwon and Talib Kweli.

If your wallet is suffering, consider the dance party that is Funky Sole at The Echo. Its free before 11, and Ohmega Watts is guest DJing. Efterklang and Nightlands at The Echoplex downstairs will also be sonically legit - check out Efterklang's videos if you're unfamiliar. Their compositions and videos are both pretty epic and artistic.

Not heading down to SXSW this weekend? Fret not, that's the beauty of living in LA, it's a cross-roads for music. Ain't too many bands making the trek out to Texas and not budgeting in a little swing through So Cal. So for tonight and the rest of the weekend you'll have the luxury of picking through a bunch of artists on their way to SXSW before they get there, as well as a a quality selection of musicians who have either aged out of the SXSW scene or just don't give no fughs.
So as for tonight, might I suggest Asheville native Darwin Deez at The Echo. Not just pointing you in that direction because I like to hype my hometown. The Deezman has been popping up on all sorts of radars lately and the consensus is that not only does he remind you of a character from Portlandia, but like that show, his own show is a feel good time for everyone.
Maybe you'd prefer to get jammy with your evening. If that's the case then your best bet is probably jam scene vets, Moe. at The Fonda Theater. If you wind up there remember to spin a few times for your health. It's how Jerry would want it.
Maybe you're feeling a bit adventurous and you've got some extra gas in the tank. In that case, try Pappy and Harriet's where Rufus Wainwright is set to perform. You can never go wrong with heading out to J. Tree to go to Pappy and Harriets, even if you don't actually make it into Pappy and Harriets.
There's also some other gems on the calendar like Fartbarf at El Cid and Big Dick at One Eyed Gypsy. I can't really speak to the musical quality of either show, but I can vouch that on Saturday, when you're mom asks you what you did Friday night you can tell her you saw Fartbarf or Big Dick, and that's something fun.
This Evening's Shows:
The Blackeyed Soul Club, California Lions, Boats (Kill Rock Stars) @ The Satellite

In terms of the concert calendar, the weekend arrives early tonight. Lots and lots of solid line-ups around town. Rising indie acts Youngblood Hawke and The Mowgli's sold out The Troubadour, and then added glowing soul child Zak Waters to the bill. Early arrival suggested.
If you're seeking beats - UZ lays down something mysterious and filthy at Club Nokia with special guest 12th Planet, as well as support from French Fries and Jerome LOL. Female beat commander ILL-esha drops by King King Hollywood with Phutureprimitive and Buku. A few miles West on Sunset Blvd., Nit Grit, Antiserum and Stratus are some of the last electronic artists to grace Key Club's stages before they close their doors. For less wobble, but plenty of dancing, consider EC Twins and friends at Exchange LA, Flight Facilities at The Observatoryor try Laidback Luke and Brazzabelle at Fox Theater Pomona.
Other notable shows include MC Lars for FREE at Slidebar, The James Hunter Six crooning at El Rey Theatre and Anuhea at The Roxy. Full list of Thursday night L.A. shows below...
Lavender Diamond, Charlyne Yi, Willie Watson (Old Crow Medicine Show) @ The Echoplex

The James Hunter Six, The Relatives @ El Rey Theatre
Bomba Estereo, Astro, La Santa Cecilia, Que Bajo?!, Carla Morrison @ Fonda Theatre
We here at SUPERGOODMUSIC felt the need to hype this show to our friends in the Rockies because it most likely will be extra-fresh with a side of Southerncallafragelisticexpialadocious. Of course I spelled that correctly.
Big Boi is Big Boi, he's a beast. If you're too young to know who that is, then you should go to this show. It also means that the Outkast hiatus is downright tryflin' at this point, but hey, half of a great thing is still half of a great thing. Which is definitely a good thing. Add in Killer Mike and you're back to great. If you're not familiar with him, I'll quote to you the most relevant line from his press release, "He hopes to achieve getting listeners to what is being said as well as get crunk with his second album." I will end on that line, regardless of the grammar, because it contains the pertinent information, and that's all you need.
What's today? Wednesday? Weekend Warm-up Wednesday? Maybe, depends how frisky you're feeling I guess. Looking at the concert forecast for your local LA area, I'm seeing a lot of good stuff to move your ass to, if you're looking to shake it, twerk, etc. etc. The Echoplex has Dub Club going, remember to wait for the drop. Or, perhaps you want to catch one of the last shows of the soon-to-be de-funk'd Key Club, Chris Webby might not be a bad one to check out. If the East Side ain't your dive, the always funky House of Vibe All Stars are going at Harvelle's, Chali 2na is known to pop up there from time to time to bless you with his baritone rhymes.
If you'd prefer a more stationary musical experience, might I direct you towards Black Label Society at the Nokia Theater, or for the lesser endowed, maybe Jam Van veterans, The Janks at The Harvard and Stone (remember to wear black or you'll look out of place), or Tashaki Miyaki and Dream Panther at Los Globos. I've never been to Los Globos, but I hear it looks like a nightclub in "Scarface" on the inside, so there's always that. Feel free to check it out and let me know if that is actually the case. Also feel free to turn-up.
Its a subpar Tuesday when it comes to the musical calendar here in Los Angeles. Nationally touring acts en route to Austin for the first weekend of SXSW have already passed thru, and bands who are heading there for music week haven't quite yet made the voyage through Los Angeles.
Ignoring the label world, Amanda Palmer is the shining light in today's Daily Dose. The Kickstarter famous crowd sourcer brings her eclectic party and audience to The Echoplex for a night of intimate music. If that's not your steeze - go upstairs to check out Dorian Wood, Killsonic and Wife at The Echo.
Other options include TheBlack&TheWhite beginning their free residency at The Central SAPC and former resident, The Ross Sea Party occupying Harvard & Stone. A full list of shows is below....
After a glorious and gorgeous weekend its back to that work grind - but this Monday invites a new selection of resident acts to eastside venues and boasts a healthy Its A School Night lineup. The latter features DJ sets from Class Actress and Fingerpaint, who is a member of Classixx. Sinkane, who just performed with Toro Y Moi headlines the FREE party at Bardot.
Bootleg Bar's residency gets a visit from SXSW bound Body Parts and The Satellite gets the same from Jenny O on Harper Simon's residency. The best residency bill goes to Costa Mesa's Detroit Bar though - which plays host to Wildcat! Wildcat!, Tapioca & The Flea and Mt. OSSA.

The first sunday of March is a preview to the madness of the month with a handful of solid shows popping off. There's the hip-hop variety party at The Central SAPC with Rhymesayers' DJ Abilities and Koreatown rapping phenomenon Kosha Dillz, plus Reazon, E-Train, Sadistik, Scotty The Kid, Dean Risko and more.
Galactic brings their funk party to The Yost Theater in the O.C. with guest spots from Living Colour's Corey Glover and the rap duo Latyrx featuring Lyrics Born and Lateef The Truth Speaker. More MCs can be found at The Observatory, where Method Man reps for the Wu.
If you were lucky enough to score tickets for Toro Y Moi at Fonda Theater - kudos for being on that one. It should be amazing. A consolation prize for those who failed to get inside the former Music Box, Nadastrom is DJing at Drai's a couple blocks away.
