Karl Denson's Tiny Universe & Friends Pay Tribute to The Rolling Stones

Last night at The House of blues on Sunset Strip, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe kicked off their Sticky Fingers tour that celebrates not just the record, but 50 years of the Stones in general. Joining KDTU is Slightly Stoopid’s own Kyle McDonald and Miles Doughty as well as Anders Osborne. This 17 date tour swings down to San Diego, then back up the California coast, hops through the Midwest, and makes one stop on the East Coast.

With The Rolling Stones 50th anniversary coming up, the choice to perform the classic Sticky album from beginning to end is a wise one. To add to the excitement, on Halloween KDTU and crew will be joined by Rose Hill Drive at The Fillmore Auditorium in Denver, CO. Rose Hill have chosen to perform a different classic rock album and attendees will get to hear The Who’s Who’s Next played from beginning to end on top of the Sticky Fingers performance. We're officially jealous of people who will be there.

If you still haven’t scored tickets to this tour you can go here and locate which venue is closest to you. Limited to this tour - Denson has released three new shirts and two limited edition posters.

Indie Music on A Stoner Holiday

If you're hip to cannabis culture, you'd know today is a holiday for the avid weed smoker. You might also know that Slightly Stoopid is playing at Greek Theatre tonight, where they are joined by Bad Brains, Barrington Levy and special guests Karl Denson, Del Tha Funky Homosapien and Don Carlos. This line-up is like a mini-festival and I'm sure it will be some stanky funky 'ish (both audibly and odorously).

If you can't foot the bill for that, or you just want to kick it low key with the Stoopid boys post show - El Cid is hosting the after party, where they will be showing Reefer Madness and have performances from Stonefeather and The Originalites amongst others.

There are plenty of musicians elsewhere around town, including ones that embrace the bottle over the cheeba. You could share a drink with some rising locals at any eastside indie enclave - and I plan on doing just that at Silverlake Lounge with Risers at 9:15, as well as with Tic Tic Boom! at Bootleg at 11:30. I like both acts songwriting a lot - Tic Tic Boom!'s catchy "Just Friends" on Locals Only has caught my ear (as well as their latest "Bees") and Risers sort of wowed me at The Satellite last week with their performance of Devil's Game. Check that out here -

Risers are joined by Aerial Stereo (8:30), Handshakes (10), Mile Greene (10:45) and Y Luv (11:30); Tic Tic Boom! are joined by Old Scholar (10:30) and Tyler Steele & The Helping Thieves (9:30) as well as I Promote Good Bands and Zoomania Music crews.

Hope to see you out tonight. New Los Angeles Concert Blast published tomorrow!
