Coachella Commentary - Initial Line-Up Announced!

Good morning. If you've been under a rock this morning that is impervious to news about music, than you probably missed that Coachella announced their initial line-up. Two words aptly describe this years super-festival - FUCKING INSANE!

The line-up is chock full of heavy hitters - including Jay-Z, Them Crooked Vultures, LCD Soundsystem, Deadmaus and Vampire Weekend on Friday; Muse, David Guetta, the Dead Weather, Hot Chip, Major Lazer, Kaskade, Z-Trip, the XX, Les Claypool, Pretty Lights, Band of Skulls, Edward Sharpe & The Magnetic Zeros, Girls, Beach House and Portugal. The Man on Saturday; and the motherload on Sunday which includes Gorillaz, Thom Yorke, Phoenix, Julian Casablancas, De La Soul, Sly and The Family Stone, Little Boots, Glitch Mob, Gil Scott Heron, B.O.B., Florence & The Machine, Miike Snow & One Eskimo!

You might think there a few more gems too, like Passion Pit or MGMT, but let us be real with you for a minute....we've seen both of these acts multiple times at festivals and they are not good live. And, by not good, I mean bad. Passion Pit has never blown me away and the vocalist can't sustain vocals like that for a whole show. MGMT just makes me want to puke when I see them; their performance at Coachella was the straw that broke the camels back for me and I refuse to ever pay money to see them again. While at their show, you just long for their studio quality because they just don't do it for me in concert. In my personal opinion they should just hang up the mic and let the other acts shine because you will regret going to see them if you elect to do so - we promise there will be better live music during their sets.

Look for SUPERGOODMUSIC to be doing something out there. We're trying to find some companies, people, entities, whatever to partner with to throw a party. If you're interested please contact brandon@supergoodmusic.com. Worst case scenario, you'll see SUPERGOODMUSIC planted around the festival grounds getting all festy with stickers and glow sticks and the like.
