Neon Indian
Neon Indian is another perfect example of how electronic music has really made its way into the mainstream. Their music would not of been popular to that many people a couple years ago, but now with so many bands coming out with this similar sound, it makes sense to have them on the Monolith bill. I had never heard of them until I looked over the lineup, but I am so happy to of found them. Upon listening to a couple of their tracks on MySpace, I immediately headed over to Hype Machine and collected all the tracks I could find. I highly recommend checking out their songs “Deadbeat Summer” and “Should Have Taken Acid With You.” Click on the link below to head over to Neon Indians MySpace to hear more.

Danielle Ate The Sandwich
If you’re in the mood for a quirky singer-songwriter than look no further than Danielle Ate The Sandwich. She proves once again that sometimes all you need is a guitar and a pretty voice to make music. As you’re all well aware, I am a sucker for female singer-songwriters, so I was surprised to discover someone that I had never heard of Danielle, but am very much looking forward to seeing her live at Monolith. Check out her YouTube channel below to see an array of homemade videos from Danielle Ate The Sandwich and take a listen to her cover of “Ooh Child” below.

The Pirate Signal
We are now coming across the first hip-hop band to play at Monolith this year and it comes in the form of The Pirate Signal. Their music isn’t full on hip-hop because it has a slight electronic edge to it, which makes it easier for people for are diehard hip-hop fans (such as yours truly) to get into it. If you don’t know who they are then take a listen to their songs “Go!” and “It Might Just Go Down” to get a better understanding of who they are. You can find more information on the band at their official MySpace page.

Lydia
Lydia can be best described as a rock band. They remind me of Silversun Pickups in that they offer up a harder edge with sweet and simple melodies. I would want Lydia to play just as the sun is beginning to set to offer the crowd a perfect transition from day to night. I highly recommend listening to their song “This Is Twice Now” to fully get a grasp on who Lydia is and what they do best. Check out their official MySpace below to lean more.
Royal Bangs
Royal Bangs have a lot to celebrate when they play Monolith this year because their new album Let It Beep is going to be released two days after they play. Royal Bangs offers listeners catchy rock tunes that are easy to move to, which to me is the perfect band to play at a festival. Their album We Breed Champions is filled with great songs and I especially recommend “New Scissors” and “Broke Calculator” as you’re starting off point for learning more about them. Check out their official MySpace below to learn more.
