TONIGHT'S a SCHOOL NIGHT w/ EULOGIES & FAMILY OF THE YEAR

Swing by Bardot tonight and check out Dangerbird Records band Eulogies, along with Family of The Year and resident DJ's Chris Douridas and Valida, to get your work week started properly. Eulogies will be reveling in their label mates Conan performance (Fitz & The Tantrums perform on Conan tonight) as well as sharing music of their most recent record, Tear The Fences Down. That record is still only available digitally, but should be available in physical copy sometime in March 2011.

Family of The Year will hopefully be performing some new material (their last full length came out in 2009) and most likely will dose the crowd with 'ChugJug,' their song that was featured in an Advil commercial in 2010. If you've never caught them - they've got a throwback vocal rock appeal that's been likened to Fleetwood Mac.

If you're contemplating showing your face in Hollywood, make sure to RSVP at itsaschoolnight.com to get in for FREE!

Coachella Countdown: Friday 4/15 Featured Act - Afrojack

If you're not yet familiar with Afrojack - it is probably in name only. You've undoubtedly heard Nick van de Wall's music on some dance floor in America or internationally. Not only does he take over the dance floor, but he also takes control with Eva Simons in the song - "Take Over Control"

The 23 year old Dutch producer is definitely a sensation to check out - he crushed Electric Daisy Carnival last year and he has a lot of heat off his recently released album "Lost & Found" which was released in late December 2010.

Odd Future's Tyler, The Creator spits some eerily wicked rhymes in a not made for MTV music video of "Yonkers."

Generationals in LA

The Generationals are in Los Angeles - which is making me a bit disappointed that I'm not in town. I've been into the band since I first heard "When They Fight, They Fight" and have enjoyed their latest release "Trust."

If you're in L.A. and you missed their performance last night at The Hotel Cafe, you can catch Generationals tonight (February 17th) at The Satellite (formerly Spaceland), where they are performing with The Black Apples, Minks and Shadow Shadow Shade. You can purchase tickets to that show by clicking here. The band follows that up with a performance at hipster eastside record shop Origami Vinyl on Friday February 18th. That show is at 7 pm and likely to be short, but I'm pretty sure that show is free.

Friendly Fires Show at The Roxy (@ohsheida Reports...)

The Roxy was the perfect venue to set Friendly Fires free as they embarked on a Australia and Singapore tour. From the moment singer Ed Macfarlane (any relation to Seth?) said "We Are Friendly Fires" in his dreamy British accent I was all ears. The talk that surrounded Friendly Fires was everything from "you're going to have so much fun" to "they are even better live!" and you know what... I did and they are definitely not just a studio band.

Friendly Fires played songs from their upcoming album Pala. It's riding the funky train to the fresh station. Jump in the Pool lifted my spirits and made standing in bloody* heels worth it. If I had an organized list of top songs this would be around 7 or 8. Words aren't needed for Paris. Have you listened to the Aeroplane Remix? Google that ish. They slowed it down a bit with Skeleton Boy. Occasionally when a band throws a slower song into their set I'm kinda thrown out of my element but FF's Skeleton Boy should be hanging in my art gallery. That song is gorgeous.

All in all, I'm glad I decided to bust a mission and see these boys. @Ohsheida is very happy.

Now you wish you could see them? Ok, since you wished and all, they'll be back in LA June 10th at the Henry Fonda. Don't say I never did anything for you.

*read with British accent.

Why You Should Go To Club Nokia Early on Friday

Have you ever heard of Melanie Fiona? You may have, you may have and not known it, or you simply may have missed out on this gem. Creating sexy R&B, and in this case, giving it to the listener just right - the Canadian soulstress is a beautiful accompaniment to the Zombies "Time of the Season" sample.

She is the opening performer on Friday night at Club Nokia, where Ryan Leslie, Big Boi and Cee-Lo will all follow. Don't miss out! Hopefully she performs "Give It To Me Right." Get tickets HERE.

Lissie with Questlove on Jimmy Fallon

The Roots are my favorite band of all time. I've seen them around 40 times. More than anyone else. Ever since Fallon launched with The Roots as his backing band, I'm a frequent watcher of late night television. You get to watch ?uestlove crush the drums, Knuckles on percussion, James Poyser and Kamal on keys, Black Thought, etc. Each night is an amazing one-off performance with some new guest musician....last night it was Lissie and it did not disappoint at all.

Lissie opted to utilize mostly her own band mates, but the maestro ?uestlove held it down on the kit with her crew. Looking damn dapper in his suit, braided hair and bowtie - he drove the rhythm while Lissie rocked with her beautiful voice. I really can't say enough about how beautiful I think this performance of "When I'm Alone" sounds...you should just watch it:

Machine Gun Kelly AKA MGK - "Cleveland"

Machine Gun Kelly comes to us straight out of Cleveland, coincidentally the name of the aptly titled song "Cleveland"

MGK represents C-Town and Big Ohio quite well - paying particular homage to Shaker Heights, the high school he went to I presume. The same high school that spawned Kid Cudi and me, Boom D.

Houston born Colson Baker, better known as MGK or Machine Gun Kelly, feels home in the city on Lake Erie as displayed in his expletive laden, reference heavy video. While I don't expect him to be repping any other sect like that, I do expect to see more heat and bad ass raps from this rising midwestern MC in 2011.
